Let's Pump The Brakes

The points about South Carolina and Stanford are quite true. I don't agree with Stanford having the number 1 incoming class. According to ESPN yes, according to more reputable and most other rating services no. Most have Uconn 1 and South Carolina 2, but regardless we can safely say that both schools are right at the top this year and have great incoming classes, and minimal graduation losses even if Evina departs.

Stanford is the current number 1 overall seed, has two great younger players in Jones and Brink, a good incoming class, and again modest graduation losses. So the analysis that there could be three supper teams next year makes sense. The biggest difference is this year the top 8 or so appear to be very closely bunched, with the gap between the best team and the 8th best team unusually small. Next year the gap between those three teams and everybody else grows substantially, and I would be very surprised if the national champion didn't come from those three. In some ways it will be like last year, when South Carolina, Oregon and Baylor were a significant notch above everyone else including Uconn.

We should be very very good next year and probably the favorite, but South Carolina and Stanford have many reasons to believe they can be right there as well, even if we do put far more distance between us and teams like NC State, Baylor, Texas A&M, Maryland, Louisville etc.
I said Sanford had the #1 player coming in 2 yrs, not the #1 class..I agree with everything you just said

ScottCT is not speaking of enthusiasm, but speaking of being unreasonably optimistic. UConn will have some of the best talent but so did Baylor when they had Griner and they won only one NC. UCLA had the top recruiting class about four years ago and never made it to a FF. Some of the predictions have been very unrealistic, not about winning a NC but, winning so many in succession. Expectations may just be too high.
Thank you donalddoowop

I'm as excited and as enthused as most of you.All I'm saying is some of you aren't being realistic.Saying they will be invinceable and you would be shocked if they didn't win 3 in a row is a bit too much. You could say that Stewie's senior year when she was the best player ,by far,in the nation..they had arguably the best power forward with Tuck and the best pg in MoJeff..I hope your all correct and they go on and break the consecutive win streak.I don't mind 50 pt blowouts at all..Just let's not hand out the trophy's yet..As great as the 11 NCAA's are because that's why they play I think the consecutive final 4's is a close 2nd and this year may be their toughest challenge to get past the elite 8
Everyone thought that after Stewies freshman year! And they failed by losing one game in three years! Then after the Big 3 went 1,2,3 in the WNBA Draft! They had an undefeated regular season and finally lost in the FF on a last second shot with no Srs. They go undefeated again in the regular season but lose again on a last second shot in the FF! UCONN is unique compared to Every other school in Division 1 Womens Basketball! Not even Tennessees history compares with Connecticut anymore!!! Everybody just enjoy the Ride!!!

Yes, UConn, SC & Stanford will be in the top 5 for the next 5 years. Hopefully, we play each other OOC. Lets enjoy it. ... With that, I do want the 12th.

One thing to consider is that the recruits who come to Connecticut are likely to improve more than those who go elsewhere, due to superior coaching.

MO if they make it to the Final4 this year it would be a tremendous accomplishment
I agree with the initial point you made about a team not being invincible. There is no such thing until after a season is over to say any team is invincible. OFC there is going to be posters that believe the cup is 4'5th's full.

With that said - you point out the certain positive posters but there is also the other side that continually looks at things as the being 1/5th full. You almost get the feeling that some fans on here are at times ashamed as to how great UCONN wcbb program is. So they bend over backwards to not be "THAT" "dreaded homer."

And another group - for example- -- would argue with your use of the word "tremendous" to describe what it would be like for UCONN to "just" make it to the FF without winning it all. You know there are quite a few posters on here that go into "Vince Lombardi" mode and think it's no big deal UCONN goes to the FF without winning title, right? It's championship or bust/ who cares. So just saying you picked out those that are positive but there's also some on here at the other side. I prefer the positive because -- the teams under Geno have been beastly over many years.

Even your comment though is more negative. Unless you think that any FF UCONN gets to as being a tremendous accomplishment? If not, how is it that a team that was primarily ranked in top 4 at the start of season and is now number 1 in polls, number 2 overall number 1 seed - how is it considered a tremendous accomplishment unless you are glass is half-full type?

I say some of the posters on here got to stop riding the break. It's okay to let your car drive. Get your foot off the break and step on the pedal. Yeah - this year it's very tough. And even in future nothing is assured. But it's okay for a time that we pretend that we aren't "Vince Lombardi"- and just be continually amazed at how tremendous this program really is. I think some posters have too much hard bark on them for a college team. Hey NFL board as an example- things are a lot different.
