Well I look forward to Michigan State being a sizable underdog to a team 10 slots behind it this week.

Right? If that line is anything less than 7, I know what my heavy play will be. That said, I lost my heavy play (Navy) yesterday. Grumble grumble.

No one else feels this way (judging from posts regarding Navy), but I'm so happy they got smoked by ND. Might be because my seats at the Rent are next to the guest section, but Navy's fans were particularly annoying and I'm glad they got taken down a notch.

These polls are silly. Utah has destroyed Michigan State's best win, beat Michigan, and just took down a top 25 team, and Utah is #5.

This is purely a popularity contest.

And Ohio St. has struggled all season. Utah would be favored against the Buckeyes if they played on a neutral field next Saturday. They have the best resume this season.

Wonder if anyone in the AP has a clue Navy's QB went down early in that game.

Good for the AAC. Three teams in the Top 25 is quite impressive at this point of the season. If only the basketball side of this conference could follow suit.

Best weekend ever for AAC: Memphis' big win, three teams in top 25 (USAT)
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...ac-enjoys-perhaps-best-weekend-ever/74176312/

>>It would appear the AAC, at least for the time being, has separated itself from the other Group of Five conferences.

“I’ve never wanted to make it about the Group of Five,” Aresco said. “Our sights have been set on trying to be in the conversation with the other five and this year we’ve got seven wins against them now and we’ve beaten a ranked team and a couple teams that might be ranked by the end of the season so we’ve done that part of it. It’s also important for us to win against the Group of 5 because we’re competing against them for that New Year’s Day slot. It’s all come together for us. We’ve had some really significant eye-opening wins that shows some strength throughout the conference.”

The interesting thing will be to see how the College Football Playoff selection committee views these teams, given the emphasis on strength of schedule. The first CFP rankings will come Nov. 3, and barring a major upset Memphis would be 8-0 and potentially knocking on the door of the top 10 of the polls. But will the committee see it that way?

“Last year when we had a chance to talk after the season, the committee made it clear they admired how we challenged ourselves with the tough schedules we took on,” Aresco said. “Last year we came up a little short because we didn’t win enough non-conference games. This year I’m pleased we have undefeated teams at this point. I felt if we had undefeated teams and significant non-conference wins they would treat us fairly and I think they will.”<<

Quoting from the article:

"10-1 against the Mountain West, Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference and the Sun Belt."

"4-3 against the ACC including Cincinnati’s win against Miami, Houston’s win at Louisville and East Carolina beating Virginia Tech. (Two of the three losses belong to struggling Tulane)."

Not too shabby. Both the top of the conference and the bottom have improved (with the notable exception of UCF).

Reminds me of the BE who usually had 1 to 3 teams ranked. Great job. Of course, our boys must to do the job of ruining the league presence by knocking out Temple and Houston.

Not too confident that will happen. I will take ECU and Tulane as possibles thinking 5-7 is best case scenario. 2016 will need to be a huge 10+ win year.

10+ wins next year would be shocking. None of the teams we play next year are waiting for us. BC and Syracuse will be much improved. I am expecting all of the teams in the AAC, with the possible exception of Navy (due to the loss of their QB) to be better. The teams in this league are all putting a lot of money into their programs and expect to win on the national scene.

I agree, I always maintained that the AAC had tons of potential. If you consider where Temple and Memphis were two years ago, I am sure their fan base would never have predicted that they would be undefeated at this point in time. Who would have predicted that UCF would be winless at this point. Uconn has a lot of youth and has had impressive recruiting. We should see a big turnaround in 2016.

Baylor could be toast after the injury. Really a shame for the young man.

There are six 1 loss teams and one 2 loss team (Michigan 5-2) ahead of Memphis and the other undefeated AAC teams. The block is totally on which makes any jump to the top 4 nearly impossible. The only good news is ND at #9 which gives (or should give-lol) Temple some juice if they win.

CFP Poll out on Tuesday night...

There's been very little separation between the top 4 AAC teams (all are undefeated except for Temple & Navy who both lost to ND). All are very sound teams - can't wait to see them start playing head-to-head.

Poll's Out:

IMO Michigan is the one team that sticks out as having no business being ranked above either unbeaten AAC Team. Barely scraped by Minn this week. In fact I think #23 Temple would beat them.

The Stanford ND game to end the regular season really sets up nicely. Could potentially be for a final 4 spot. I see Baylor possibly losing 1 or 2 with some tough teams on the schedule and a backup QB.

Unconscionable - 2 losses cannot warrant that ranking.

Except their loses are against #6 (on last play) and #13 - add in the Harbaugh effect and you get the ranking.

It will either be validated or invalidated on Tuesday night.
