I was looking up something in the Media Guide yesterday and happened on the BE stats page and was surprised to see just how dominating Uconn was in the old conference even in a year when they did not win either the regular or tournament crown. Below are the categories listed and Uconn and the runner up:
Scoring - Uconn 82.5 (ND 81.2)
Defense - Uconn 49.8 (Villanova 52.5)
Margin - Uconn 32.7 (ND 21.9)
FG% - Uconn .496 (ND .455)
FG% Def - Uconn .316 (Syracuse .346)
3Pt % - Uconn .378 (ND .340)
Reb Margin - Uconn 11.1 (ND 10.9)
Assists - Uconn 20.5 (ND 19.5)
Blocks - Uconn 6.2 (St. Johns 5.8)
And those Uconn did not lead:
FT % - ND .798 (Uconn #2 at .764)
3 Pt % Def - Syracuse .275 (USF .285, #3 Uconn .286)
A/TO - Villanova 1.5 (Uconn 1.4)

Pretty impressive and just a reminder of how mixed the old BE was and how far above the rest of the league Uconn, ND, and Louisville really were.
With four of the more challenging games on Uconn's AAC schedule remaining (including @USF as they tend to play us tough down there) the AAC numbers are fairly strong too . Numbers in Blue are Uconn's full YTD numbers.
Scoring: #1 @ 85.7 85.2
Defense: #1 @ 45.5 47.4
Margin: #1 @ 40.2 37.8
FG%: #1 @ .518 .511
3 Pt%: #2 @ .386 (Rutgers leads at .400 though they attempt only two a game) .373
FT%: #1 @ .791 .767
FG% Def: #1 @ .297 .309
3Pt% Def: #2 @ .275 (Rutgers at .263) .260
Reb Margin: #1 @ 8.3 8.8
Assists: #1 @ 23.5 22.5
Blocks: #1 @ 9.2 8.8
A/TO: #1 @ 2.1 2.0

Considering that the OOC still represents more the 50% of games played and the strength of that schedule and that we have the strength of the conference schedule coming up, it is a little surprising that the Uconn stats are pretty close for YTD and Conference games. And I would say that part of that is that Uconn really has improved their play - Bria and Stewart are playing better now than they did in the OOC portion of the year.
