The scenario that immediately comes to mind is an academic issue, but only those on the inside know for sure. Maybe he's an Elvis fan and Memphis is his "dream school."

These type of moves are almost always grade issues. We didn't see many of these w/ Edsall as he didn't like to gamble with the recruiting time and effort for a guy that may not qualify or get admitted (guys like Harrison and Cooper at Rutgers).

Pasqualoni takes shots at these guys and sometimes the miss (Dobbs and now Lanier).

Memphis is a non-BCS school that can take partial qualifiers. UConn can't. Excellent chance that is the reason for the decision.
