Lane missed the bus and it is entirely appropriate for Norm to find his own ride back to CT after tonight's game.

He had over a year to evaluate strengths amd weaknesses of QB's and his skill players and he's totally misaligned his play calling with the players on the field.

This is a exactly the point and you are 100% correct. Last year, I understood the conservative play calling as Zion was the back up and UConn was down to their 3rd stringers at WR. But what is the excuse for the steady diet of bubble screens and lack of throwing down field? If Mora and Charlton say it's because of the personnel this year, well then the retort to that is "why didn't you get better personnel so you can execute semblance of a real offense?". That doesn't require getting 4 star players.

Tonight's game was an embarrassment and brought flashbacks of Edsall 2.0 and Diaco. That is not hyperbole-it was that bad. UConn was not playing Georgia, the national champions. They were playing Georgia State a borderline D1-AA team.

URI shredded that team and we were totally inept. Charlton should be fired tomorrow. Marinelli knew how to run an explosive offense, maybe give him a shot

We fired our DC ... well, let Spanos go for "personal reasons," and our defense improved massively YOY. Football is a high momentum/passion sport ... a large part of what we are seeing on defense is the reflection of the hopelessness of what they are doing won't matter with how awful the offense is... another part is just being gassed and being given zero reason to get jacked up and fight.

42-35 would be a gift compared to the hot garbage UConn showed today.

Oh, 42-35 > 35-14 (where game was over at halftime)

your math needs work.

No, you need perspective. A 42-35 loss is a loss but it's a lot better and more competitive than a 35-14 loss where UConn was down 28 to zero.

Any UConn fan that is being honest with themselves, which clearly isn't you, would've much rather at the very least have lost competitively like Rhode Island did than the way UConn performed tonight.

But hey if you think UConn's performance was equal to Rhode Island simply because both lost, then you are clearly smoking the good stuff.

I’d rather go 0-12 losing games 48-45, 42-35, 55-42, whatever just scoring points than go (maybe?) 6-6 with the offense we are running. Part of what puts fans in the stands in entertaining them, and we just don’t have a fun brand of football right now even if we start winning games.

We lost a lot of games when Rhett Lashlee was here that one season but at least that was fun football to watch…

They put up over 500 yards of offense and scored 35 points. Call it what you want, but I’ll take that with an L every Saturday vs what we saw tonight.

That's the "I like turtles" answer. URI didn't by any definition shred Georgia State. But yes, a 35 to 42 loss is a moral victory.

URI shredded Georgia State's defense by any definition. Whether or not URIs defense held up, URIs offense certainly shredded the defense of Georgia State.

You like turtles too, apparently.

I've watched and rewatched Fagnano's highlights against FBS teams from last year. In them, he doesn't look like the same quarterback as he does in this current system. He threaded the needle at times last year and wasn't afraid to sling it far. The difference I see is the coaching and play calling which, I hate to admit, might have been superior at Maine.

That being said, Roberson definitely moved the chains better today, so why not give him a try next week.
