Which side of the Mediterranean have you tried?

What do you mean by this?

I've eaten lamb I believe 3x, might be 2x, but times prepared much differently and both times I absolutely hated it. I like most foods but it had a weird taste that I didn't vibe with at all.

I never cared for lamb until I worked for one Mediterranean spot owned by Egyptians and it was life changing. Their lamb gyros with tahini and taziki were amazing.

I saw some pizza spots (to be fair to the Greeks maybe not the best place to try their Gyros) and it was disappointing and not the same.

But since then anytime I get a lamb gyro from southern or eastern (Middle East) owned parts of the Mediterranean it’s always good. There’s this one Labanese spot that I get it from currently.

(Sorry to any Greeks on the board and I’m open to having the right experience 😃)

Gotcha gotcha - I think in a gyro I might not mind it.
Mthe one was a chop by an ex who had some family in those areas, I forget what nationality. I hated it.

Then I had it at an upscale restaurant in sausage form, and that was terrible too. It was a specific taste I just didn’t vibe with, but gyro might be solid.

Yeah if I’m getting lamb it’s going to be on a Kabab or Gyro. I’ve tried the Chop a few times but it was at a great restaurant so I enjoyed it. but not to the point I’d look for it.

Never even knew Lamb came in sausage form that’s diabolical.

If you get the gyro you have to get it with the tahine and taziki sauces!

The restaurant I got it at is now closed, I assume not because of my meal lol.

But I just looked it up and it appears it is called merguez sausage, which is a North African style lamb sausage. I still remember how strong the taste was, so I guess it depends on your buds but that was the 2nd time I said "I should try lamb" and I immediately regretted it.

Very well said, but lamb was no small part, no way we make our run without his play on both ends of the floor, he was our 2nd best player the 2nd half of the season and is probably a 1st rounder if he left after his freshman year
