Laksa? Collins?

While I really liked the idea of Laksa as a grad senior at UConn, that was prior to Geno’s flurry of activity to bring in Ania, Evelyn & Evina. If Laksa shows up as well, Geno will have one hell of a challenge finding PT for everyone.

If they run around a lot, maybe we can conceal that we have 6 players on the court.

If you can’t get a 6’6” player, get 6 players who are 6’0”.

Did anyone ever outjump Gabby on a jump ball? She sure was fun to watch!

Agree Geno should at least inquire about Laksa as its hard to turn away a player of her caliber. I think she's a better outside shooter then any player currently on the UConn roster and that would add value. I don't know how the current players would react and Geno would need buy-in from all the players currently on the team. Laksa is not coming to Storrs if she's not projected as a starter.

No inside info, but I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up on ND or Miss St. if she plays college ball next year. If she loves Florida, Florida St might be an option. She will end up at a team capable of getting to the F4 and winning a National Championship.

Jose's team was and is known as an excellent passing and spacing team, which partly compensated for Laksa being slow of foot and gave her open looks against a lot of teams. Put a really decent defender on her and her game crumbles. What sense would it make for her to play another year in another college - can she pick next year's champion this summer? I hope for her sake she has left the college scene.

ND maybe, but Miss St has no scholarships to offer. And probably have to ax a player if Moore decides to go there.

I’m sure Laksa has already made her decision. She just hasn’t told us yet. The message she sent out yesterday has a very familiar feel to it, similar to the ones released by Ania & Evina prior to announcing their decisions to attend UConn. I had suspected that Ania & Evina’s farewell messages may have been coordinated by Geno & CD.

It may just be a coincidence that Kitija’s message has a familiar feel. Then again it may not be a coincidence.

...and KML was quickfooted, tenacious defender? Umm, I think we could find a spot for her given all the other skilled position players we have. We don’t have a deadly outside threat Crystal Dangerfield aside. I would love to see a team put its best defender on Kitija and leave MW, EW, Crystal Dangerfield to do their worst!

@DefenseBB at least put ONO on the court! ;)

To be fair, I should have included as “a 5th person” but the person that would cover Laksa as a defensive specialist would not be the person covering Liv. That would leave lesser skilled defenders trying to cover are better skilled guards and wings. I hope I am not coming off as pedantic (I do need another cup of coffee from last nights softball and NBA games and excitement). :)

If Westbrook is not granted a waiver and Laska wants to come to UConn, I hope Geno takes her. I believe Laska would be as productive a player as Westbrook would be. She could be a big help offensively.

Unfortunately, The Laksa decision would necessarily precede the NCAA decision relative to Evina’s waiver request.

MiMi Collins to Maryland
Very happy with this news. Of course the next decision is whether Collins is granted a waiver or not. Of course if she does that's great news for UConn because Westbrook will get a waiver as well. Collins is very nice but she doesn't move the needle that much for Maryland. Still Oregon, Baylor and Stanford but we are very close to Stanford now. (if the waiver is granted)

The Terps have nice size already with Jones and Austin, at least.

I like your thinking, but with the NCAA, one doesn't necessarily follow the other. Great pick up for the Frozen One. She has range to the arc and you'll never question her work ethic or commitment. I personally think the young lady has a bigger upside than some give her credit for. I hope the Terp fans embrace her the way she deserves. FWIW I think she would have made a better Husky though.

Well, at least they have Austin. Not sold on Jones who hasn’t really developed like her sister. :)

TBH, you are correct. Especially if Maryland is able to sign Angel Reese from Baltimore.
Not happening. UConn bound baby!

Okay, maybe not.

I have to disagree with this. Jones is an excellent post player. Her game is a little different than her sister because she has more quickness. She can handle the ball on the perimeter, something her sister couldn't do. Stephanie's major problem is getting in foul trouble. It was getting so bad that Brenda would sit her with one foul so she could b effective in the 2nd half.

Let’s agree to disagree as even you noted she can’t be relied upon due to foul trouble. She is a contributor but not a main contributor compared to Fraser, Myksell or Austin. Collins has as much upside or more. That’s my point.
