My husband, our adult sons, and their girlfriends are going to south Tahoe in late July. My husband and I want to take everyone out to dinner at a place nicer than, say an upscale chain restaurant but not as expensive as Capital Grill. A view would be nice but we’re really looking for great food and service in a place where people wearing shorts and flip-flops would way underdressed. Any suggestions?

Actually just left Tahoe, but I usually stay up on the north side. How far do you want to drive? Lone Eagle at the Hyatt in Incline Village checks a lot of those boxes.

We’ll check it out. Thanks for the suggestion

Maybe a little too pricey for dinner but Gar Woods is a cool scene for drinks, right on the water with a big outdoor patio. They have their signature "Wet Woody" cocktails. But this is also on the north side.

Excuse me?
They really ran with the sexual innuendos. These things will light a fire under your though.

Wish I could help. Last time I was in South Lake Tahoe, the forest was on fire and I left before dinner.

We've visited South Lake Tahoe in the winter a couple of times for skiing. There's a restaurant near the Marriott complex there (also near the casino) called Fire & Ice that's a unique dining experience, definitely not Capital Grille-ish at all. That might be worth considering.

I've been to the one in Boston a couple of times. Cool place.

If you’re ever in Orlando…

I hear the chopped liver, Ritz crackers, and champagne cocktails at The Corleone compound are pretty good.

Just don't go fishing. That may not turn out so well.
