Good for them.... I hope it helps their program..... I gather from the talk down south that the crisis there is being shored up here in terms of recruiting.....

I think they need to look at teaching fundamentals, and getting an offensive scheme.....

But for purposes of the thread here.... Congrats Lady Vols......

I suspect that that is not the Murfreesboro resident that she really wanted.
I feel you but some others might have missed who you were talking about.

Wonder why they didn't promote Law or Lockwood?

On this or any other hire is there a rule or unwritten agreement that she will not use relationships with potential WV recruits to seek to plug the recruiting hole in Tenn's boat?

I think this is a good move because TN cannot whiff on either Anastasia Hayes or Dorie Harrison in 2017. A native of Tennessee should help with that. She also help sign the JUCO player of the year this year Kristina King. Tennessee missed out on the 2015 JUCO POY.

I thought Kristina King originally signed with West Virginia in 2013, but went JUCO instead. Usually this means she didn't originally qualify, but now does. So King signed with WVa before Reaves came on the WVa scene. Same with Bria Holmes and Bussie.

The Lady Vol PR machine is really good at spinning the facts into positives. Of course, none of that is Reaves fault, and I wish her the best in what will probably be a difficult job.

Reaves sounds like a good hire for the Lady Vols. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with her. It appears that all Holly has to do is stay out of her way, and things should get better in Knoxville in the days and weeks to come. Congratulations to the new Lady Vols assistant coach Sharrona Reaves. Its always nice to come home.

For those who have already signed - yes; for those who have verbally committed - sort of; for those that she has just been in contact with - nope, they are fair game.

She was hired as an asst coach, not associate coach.... so same level as Dean and Jolette.... but she does have added title of Recruiting Coordinator....

There are a few LV posters on VolNation that are underwhelmed by the hire, say that Reaves hasn't landed a single 100 kid in her time with the 'Eers. Of course, one of them thought Niele Ivey would have been a better choice...

I found one interview from a few years ago after a WV game where she talked about working on defense and rebounding - sounds like she will fit right into the TN ethos :rolleyes:!

In looking at her resume two things stood out to me - she has a lot of jobs where she was 'recruiting coordinator' so that fits in with her getting that assignment. And she has had a lot of jobs over her career, mostly of about 3 year duration - she moves around a lot, including two separate stints at WV.

On recruiting coordinator - the job is a huge administrative task as much as the actual recruiting process. With NCAA rules and a staff of four people (HC and 3 assistants) the logging of contacts and making sure they are timed correctly, the mailings, coordination of schedules for viewing windows, and management of point people for specific recruits, campus visits both unofficial and official, and the management of non-recruit networks of contacts (coaches, AAU sponsors, and scouts.) Whether the recruiting coordinator is also the most prominent of the assistants actually doing the recruiting is not a given.

Very good point. There's a lot of administrative work that goes with the job.

Well, there are cranks everywhere, lol. The LVs can't do any worse recruiting than they did in 2016. And rankings or no, WV is a competent team, which must have something to do with the talent she's brought in.

For one, Ivey isn't leaving ND for Knoxville, and the other thing is that the main issue down there is not recruiting.... it is far greater..... CHW and staff need to teach game of basketball at a basic level and to develop the good players there right now.... I am not looking right now, but I believe Bashara graves arrived there very highly rated, then went low in the draft..... Hope for them that Sharrona can bring what is needed... lifting skill level and team play

And how do we know that Niele Ivey is available, interested in, and would leave Notre Dame for that position in Knoxville?

Query: Has anyone heard from Javaman? He usually posts 8-10 times a day. His last post was over 3 weeks ago.

Well hopefully for the LVs Sharrona will be the elixir to their issues the last few years.....

They are funny down in KVille.... still digging up stuff from 10 years ago and blindly supporting Pat..... "You know what you did"!!!!!!!! OK that is fine I understand partisan politics.... but Geno is in hospital..... nothing from them..... hey get well soon.... i saw one post vs a couple others not kind at all..... I do not remember seeing ANYTHING on this board anti Pat's illness (Geno even gave 10,000 bucks to her cause) or citing Pat's bad influence in matters of Chamique (loaded gun pointed at motorist) or her own son (affair and impregnation of his player)..... I am SO GLAD I am on this board. Huskie fans are very classy. Best to just mind your own store

Well, I'm sure there are all sorts of politically correct platitudes in the thread above, but the fact of the matter is Holly Warlick is dumber than a door post and unless this new assistant is Svengali, and highly adept at hypnosis, this is just an attempt to band aide the inept recruiting. When you think about it, bringing in Deshields and then falling on your face with her, is a perfect illustration of the high risk business of bringing in a transfer regarded as a lock ... like Azura Stevens or (look to SC and name a couple).

I had thought Geno being in hospital would have brought gratuitous thoughts..... "gee, get well soon" ..... but nothing.... that is fine.... i am just glad that the good folks on this board didn't take shots at the Summit family.... or anything else they could have done....

I wished him well and called someone an idiot for saying something stupid. Geno means a lot to his family, players, friends and UConn fan base (WCBB as a whole as well) and positive thoughts and wishes to you all for having that scare. Most of us Tennessee fans are and should be pretty sympathetic to it considering what happened to Pat and now that she is in a special care facility (and Tyler's... mess) anything that happens to these positive figures within the sport we all love hits close to home. I had genuine concern when I heard about Geno's condition because I have a ton of respect for him. I still "hate" him though... it's in my contract. ;)

Thanks Tenn Parker.... I should have kept my mouth shut, or not looked at the TN board, or maybe both.... but thank you..... you always have been one of the "good folks".... haven't seen you in a while...... Good luck to you guyz this coming year.

Well said.
And I find a significant change has occurred on VolNation regarding Uconn and Geno. There are a few jerks who post there as there are on most fan boards, but a surprising large number of the posters show serious respect toward what Uconn and Geno have achieved and have long since dropped the 'cheats' meme - whether just too long ago or because they suspect the complaint might have arisen from a somewhat addled brain I don't know. There are also a number of TN fans that recognize that Pat's system of offense had become somewhat dated, though not her leadership. They recognize two issues with Holly, that she perpetuates Pat's system and that she is not the motivator or leader that Pat was.
