The Ga St. game got a lot more attention by CFB fans than it would've if it aired Saturday at 12
Is that good thing? Pushed the “UConn has no fans” agenda

wait what?!! Wrong on both points.

Some people show up as early as possible, and I believe that is 4 hours before kick-off at The Rent. Some show up maybe 30 minutes before kick-off. Your statement about showing up within 1 hour of each other doesn't hold water Vinny. It is way off base.

Further: going to a game on campus is very different than going to a stadium in East Hartford. Alumni, Parents, Friends go to campus at all different times for all different reasons. They don't close the campus and open it 4 hours before game time. The whole experience is entirely different. East Hartford, it's all about game time. On campus, it's the game, it's visiting, it's dining, it's shopping. You just can't compare the two. And everyone against an on-campus stadium misses that point. Our Storrs campus misses out on so much by having the football stadium in East Hartford and it boggles the mind that people don't see that.

Everyone should go to one game at Penn State and then look at the East Hartford mess with that experience in mind.
Our decision makers can make that transformational change, build an on-campus stadium, and enter the realm of being a serious football school.
I know that I'm not wrong because I'm a season ticket holder and have been for years.

Showing up 30 minutes later than I usually do is the difference between getting one of the first parking spots in the first blue lot, or getting ushered by LAZ and the cops to the red lot despite my parking pass (which pissed me off this year since I paid for the Blue Lot passes).

The fact that you don't know this tells me you either watch all the games from the TV set or have only been to the occasional game and didn't pay attention to it...

You missed the point. Going to a game in East Hartford is nothing at all like going to a game on campus. Nevetheless, you are still wrong. The Blue lot starts filling up way before 30 minutes before game time. Maybe you should try getting there earlier.

Maybe it's time to re-evaluate the type of students that are admitted to UC. Way too many are wok + un-interested . Would they show up if was a Taylor Swift concert ? You bet. Distance would not be a problem.

I can't tell if you're being thick on purpose or accidentally.

I get there 1 hour before game time. IF I get there 30 minutes before game time, then the aforementioned issue happens. What this means is that the MAJORITY OF PEOPLE SHOW UP WITHIN 1 HOUR OF EACH OTHER.

I hope it's clear for you now...

Not being thick at all. I just think you are wrong. I don't think the majority of people get there within 1 hour of kickoff. Try getting there 3 hours before game time and see what you see.

In all honesty the student attendance was not bad this year at all considering the best “name” opponent was Wake. We had a great home record and perfect weather. Hopefully they had fun and come back next year too.

Not that I really want to get involved in this, but I don't think it actually does mean that. It just means that there is a line for people who don't tailgate and arrive within 30 minutes of the game.

From what you're saying, anyone who shows up an hour before the game has no problem getting in. You'd have to imagine that they'd have even less of a problem if they got there two hours before a game, or three or four before?

Of course they wouldn't have a problem if they got there 3 hours ahead of time. But the whole discussion started with the analysis of Rt 195 being a one-lane entry and how that would look at the high point of the car entry. So... for that 40 - 60 minute period, they would be overwhelmed...

Nope. You can't say well traffic problems can be avoided by intelligent tailgating, but what if no one does that? It's just dumb. Darwinism will come in to play in the same way it does now. If you're an idiot and arrive at the stadium shortly before kick off, you may have to wait for a little while. if you tailgate before the game, you won't have any issues. Again, that would be as true in Storrs as it is in East Hartford.

If you think an hour before kickoff is "shortly", then you need to redefine your idea of "just dumb". Especially when we have the occasional Friday night game, where 1 hour is the best most people can do after work.

I'm not going to fight this fight anymore. You want an on-campus stadium? Go petition the Governor, have the CT DOT do a study on opening up Rt 195, and find a way to get students to care about UConn Football...

Lol, I've been saying it's pointless to discuss this until we face a decision. That said I'll always point out the contradictions in the mythology that it is impossible to put a stadium in Storrs. As I've pointed out, that's not correct.

We're good though. We just disagree on this point.

You seem to think they won't? You know the difference between a 15 minute walk and a 15 minute walk to a 20 minute wait to a 40 minute bus ride?

But young people will do things older folks won't. In your 20 you'll do things just for the experience or to say you did it or you were there. In you 30s and 40s with a family, not so much. In your 50s and beyond...forget it.

Asking 20 years to hop on bus is a different proposition than asking a 45 year old to slog through and extra hour of traffic. That said, many schools with on campus stadiums are having issues getting students to walk across campus.
You don't know the same people over 50, 60, 70 that I know.............unless people going to Antarctica, the Galapagos, Africa, etc. don't meet your criteria for doing something just for the experience.
