Though I've had some positive things to say on here about Hartley as a player (particularly when she has shot less and assisted more), most of my comments about her over her three years have not been favorable - even during the year which the powers-that-be deemed an "All American" season.
Am very pleased to put up another "Kudo" post for her re her recent play. I think her hustle has been impressive, she led the team in assists in one of the recent huge wins, she has done less reckless (in my mind) driving into a battery of defenders, seems to be forcing fewer shots in general, and did some pretty nifty defending and ball-hawking. I continue to contend that we don't need a skillion points from her to be a high-scoring team; and on those nights when she does "feel it", that is icing on a very well made cake. We all see things differently, of course. What I see recently is a kid who has bought into the Team emphasis.....that winning is so much sweeter than the individual stats and glory. And Hartley can have a whole lot to do with Our Girls winning it all.
