OT: Kodi Streaming

Hi all,

Looking for some guidance.

A buddy is selling a device (looks like a small cable box) that he says picks up the Kodi streaming service. Price tag is $250. But was also told that an Amazon Firestick can be uploaded/downloaded/hacked with the Kodi capabilities is a much cheaper way to go. Anyone have suggestions.

$250 means he's not your friend. Kodi is well known and can be downloaded free, installed on an Amazon Firestick ($39.99) or Fire TV ($89.99). There's a bit of a learning curve, but it's not rocket surgery. Google "Kodi" or TVMC.

I have read there are some legality issues associated with it, so I'm just going to get the 7 day trial of Sling and see how it is.

As great as that sounds, not worth the legal issues that could come with it (to me at least).

you can do it on a fire. I tried but didn't have much luck or patience. I thought KODI was a mess. no channels were ever working but ones I didn't want so I gave up on it. KODI is more of a platform for loading other services and media. It isn't by itself a streaming service. You have to work at it a bit.

But it's not a $250 mess. That guy is not a good person.

Easy to install yourself. Buy the right model online then watch a YouTube video, a simple google search will answer all your questions.
