Mahaney is a lot better than Brea, he fills a need, and he has two seasons. Hurley will probably turn Mahaney into an NBA player. Trust the staff.

I think Hurley realizes that a guy like Spencer -- a good shooter, but also a versatile game inside the paint -- is actually more valuable at the college level than a guy like Hawkins -- an elite shooter, but who you have to basically structure your offense around to take advantage of.

Mahaney is like a slightly-poor-man's Spencer. Brea is a poor man's Hawkins.

The attacks on his game are being linked to his person too. Being a less-than-stellar defender doesn't mean you are selfish. It means you lack athleticism, haven't been coached up, or just don't process the game really well.

Brea is a good kid. We wouldn't have been so close to signing him if he wasn't. Yes, he wants NIL money like everyone else. That isn't a crime or a bad character move.

And he isn't a BAD player either, he's just limited. He's like Tyler Polley with a 50% 3-ball. He's not good at much else, but he is damn talented as a specialist. He's going to be really good for some team.

The character concerns aren't just limited to NIL. yes, the stacks may be unwarranted, but in addition to NIL, wasn't it reported that he wanted to win, but winning WHILE being the main contributor so he can showcase his skills was important.

That compared to a team mentally at UConn where AK told Hurley to leave Stewart in cause he was having a great half and that was long as win win AK was happy.

Brea comments and goals may not have been the best match for UConn. Mahaney's quotes about joining the team are a great match!

The writing was on the wall when entucky-kay hired Pope over Hurley, but Brea picking them over us just solidifies it. They’re just a superior program to ours. Rumor is Brea actually paid UK to go there cuz he wanted to go there so bad. And Hurley can’t win close games; if you don’t count his championships then he hasn’t won any championships.
