The players are god-awful on these. No one has acceleration to make the first coverage man miss and they are terribly slow about making up their mind which way to go when they catch the ball.

We've come a long way since Nick Williams and Robbie Frey.

Brutal in every facet of special teams right now. Maybe KO coverage isn't awful...but absolutely brutal everywhere else on ST's. Something really should be done.

Agree. They're better of on KOs to just down ball in end zone.

Special teams prowess was a large part of our Pre-PP success. Ah, the good 'ole days....

On punts the gunners from the opponents always seem to get free and run down the middle into our returners face. We can't keep them to the outside at all or even slow them down for that matter.

"Spit and Push" McCombs is not the answer on punt or kick returns. He can't make a guy miss nor can he break a tackle.

True-it is tough to keep gunners away for long, but you think we could give a little help out there since we never go for blocks anyway.

To be fair on the kick-off returns. Kickoff return yardage is way down all across college football. They did a piece on this on College Football Live. They attributed this to all the new kick off rules designed to cut down on collisions. Banning wedge blocking, moving the kick-off up and the 25 yard touchback. With the shorter kick-offs, the kicker's have been kicking the ball higher. We haven't seen too many big returns against UConn lately either.
