Know Thine Enemy: Okla v. New Mexico

Oklahoma up 99-53 at middle of 4Q.

New Mexico center Jaisa Nunn (who scored 39 on Marquette) was injured late in their win over Navy and DNP today. But still, this is quite an emphatic end to another team's unbeaten run.

Nice to see that Oklahoma appears to have turned a corner. They have a talented freshman PG from Canada named Shaina Pellington. Their other talented freshman, Ana Llanusa, has 27 points so far. Gabbi Ortiz has 25. Oklahoma is 15 of 35 from the arc.

Brenda VanLengen gives much deserved props to Erin Grant, assistant coach at New Mexico. She was truly a great PG at Texas Tech. Fantastic ball handler and passer.

OU needed Gabbi Ortiz to be more of a scorer this year moving her off the ball, and moving Manning to the point guard role. This experiment wasn’t working well so Sherri has started to play Penzo now who was always a decent passer, putting the ball in the hands of Penzo has help the team she set a career high in assist today.

Very happy OU seems to have stopped the bleeding and perhaps turned the corner. It is good they are in as good a frame of mind as possible before the UConn game so they can be as competitive as possible.

Actually on 675 not 676.
I'm glad you fixed that --we strive for perfection on this board!!! (well we strive that others seek perfection)
My daughter taught International Economics at ENMU (Clovis Eastern New Mexico U)--Clovis , NM, just a tad this side of heaven--
Exactly what I though as I drove past the cattle holding pens from Amarillo to Clovis, a rose by any other name...

Safe to say New Mexico's 11-0 start didn't mean much.

RPI had them #11. Seems a tad bit high in retrospect.

RPI is scarcely meaningful this early in the season. Massey had UNM #50, which seems more right. They were also without their star center today.

Star center or no, they were down 50 points after three quarters to.....Oklahoma.

Time will tell, but I suspect Oklahoma will be an NCAA at-large team again this year, despite their early struggles.

I played against her in high school! She was amazing.

12 minute video breakdown at end although no effort to discuss UConn coming up.

Wow stats for Oklahoma: took 85 shots (38 of them were 3's), and pulled down 60 rebounds. I haven't seen numbers like that in a while.
