I really don't think it's a safe assumption at all. None of our former players kids have given UConn any preferential treatment, and they certainly haven't excluded any of UConn's rivals. Athletes do not view sports rivalries remotely similar to how fans do

His interview when he got the offer wasn't anything special, it's mostly just talk about how it would be cool to continue his dad's legacy but it doesn't come across as a huge Syracuse lean

I think Melo is more synonymous with Cuse than any of our players are with UConn. Kemba may be the only exception.

The kid must be trolling right? We’re the one school he probably disliked growing up?

I was surprised to learn how common it is for recruits to barely follow CBB. Dunno the case here but could be.

Well he donated enough $ to put his name on the practice facility, so he cares to some degree.
The funniest part of Melo donating the money for the practice facility is Boeheim almost turned the money down since it was from Melo who was only there 1 year

I figured he was a Cuse lock. Maybe not. Hopefully, he plays both sides of the ball.

Would love to have him especially that Aaron Jones is graduating from the sidelines after this year. Let’s get Melo !!!

I'm sure 'Melo will come to his son's games. It would be great to show him in the crowd during a game. :)

To crush their spirit? It’s not enough to merely be pro UConn. We should also aim to be anti Syracuse IMO.
It's a line I wouldn't want to cross between "anti-cuse" and "becoming cuse".... That line is defined by gmac.

If the coaching staff believes the kid would be an asset I'm all for bringing him in. I don't want to do it because of the way someone else's fan base may react. We receive an exceptional amount of pleasure from our program, we don't need to do anything other than continue the program as it has been. We add players because they can help us, not because it will hurt someone else.

Besides,Syracuse already gives us plenty to laugh about.
Sorry, but this post is too sane enough to be on the boneyard. Please re-consider and re-submit with your boneyard beanie squarely on.

Touché. I think Kiyan would hurt enough. Some are saying we shouldn’t make moves to spite a competitor. We wouldn’t be. Kiyan is a really good player. We should be involved with really good players.

Our fifth title and especially the way we won it, has torn down a lot of barriers and misconceptions about UConn and its program. Fans and young players see us in a new light.
