Anyone happen to know if he's working out with the QBs in practice thus far or are they treating him as an athlete? I realize were only a few days in here, but someone might have some better inside info. Would digg going to the open practice tomorrow to watch some reps but no can do.

I'm interested to see which (I'd imagine at least one) of the three frosh QBs redshirt this year.

Also, I'd guess all 3 frosh would redshirt this year. It would take a Whitmer injury and one of them to jump Cochran to take the shirt off.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Jimmy, but redshirts aren't granted until after the season (unlike how it's done in the EASports video game). So even if one of the freshmen jumped over Cochran in the 2-deep, he would have to play a down in order to burn his redshirt (ala Bobby Puyol). So the staff can intend to redshirt a player, but, at the end of the day, it is based on need.

The QB that appeared to be changing positions was McCummings before he ruptured his AT. How he was going to play WR at 260 lbs is anyone's guess.

Yes you are correct. Boyle could spend the entire year as the #2, travel to every road game, and still keep his redshirt as long as he doesn't take a snap during the year.

That's why I think (and hope) that all 3 redshirt this year.

As others have said, it's not that important. Whitmer will be back next year too. If Boyle was the back up this year, play him. You can always rs him next year and play either Lagow or Cochrane (or Taylor) as the back up.

I hear Kivon has a live arm and quick feet, mechanics need fine tuning.

Like most running QBS who come out of H.S..
