Perfect fit then.People speak highly of Kim, but he's been pretty mid so far as a coach.
Genuine question: how has the press been lying about it? Are they implying that it was a spur of the moment decision and not something he's been planning for weeks (months?)?To answer a question on the other thread that was locked for some reason. PC fans are not mad about a change in coaching. There are many that have questioned Cooley’s coaching acumen. But, he was our guy and you look past some things, just like your fan base does.
What everyone is incensed about is that we all know the reason Cooley is leaving but he has his sycophant press whores like Goodman and Fanta lying about it and in turn damaging PC which is now incredibly a rival school for him. It’s amazingly low class. The fact that this has been happening a while and he tanked what looked like a very nice season just makes it worse. To say we have been duped is a mild representation of it.
To those of you telling me, we tried to tell you? You were right. There is not much more I can add.
Best of luck tomorrow.
they say a picture, or in this case a GIF, is worth a 1,000 words. This was my reaction to the Mike Brey thread when he supposedly was hired by South Florida. I guess it captures this hire of Kim English, too. Maybe Kim English turns out to be great, who knows? I certainly don't know either way.
Ed’s wife caught him with his proverbial hand in the cookie jar. So… she delivered an ultimatum - we move far away from the jar and the cookies, or we are no longer a couple.Genuine question: how has the press been lying about it? Are they implying that it was a spur of the moment decision and not something he's been planning for weeks (months?)?
Just my humble opinion here. Unfortunately, most modern press reporting has agendas attached, be it sports, politics, you name it. Used to be, a reporter reported the story, and left the reader to weigh the facts against the fiction. Too many folks are compensated to tell lies in our society these days, without personal consequence. Nowadays, a skilled liar gets promoted. To answer a question on the other thread that was locked for some reason. PC fans are not mad about a change in coaching. They are lying by saying he left because it was a better job. That may be true but the reason he left without going into all the sordid details, of which there are many is the guy has many personal problems that preclude him from staying married and staying in Providence. He continues to make a lot of poor personal decisions in a town where he is treated like royalty.Genuine question: how has the press been lying about it? Are they implying that it was a spur of the moment decision and not something he's been planning for weeks (months?)?
This is what I want to know. What Cooley did sucks, no question about it, but to insinuate a guy like John Fanta is in on some conspiracy to push a counter narrative seems … odd.Genuine question: how has the press been lying about it? Are they implying that it was a spur of the moment decision and not something he's been planning for weeks (months?)?

the pendulum has swung to PR more than reportingJust my humble opinion here. Unfortunately, most modern press reporting has agendas attached, be it sports, politics, you name it. Surely unproven and now in a very very strong conference with great players and coaches. Always a possibility to become a good coach at this level. Gonna be tough but good luck!High upside pick for PC. But Kim will have some serious work to do in the portal and to keep guys.
I thought the KSU coach was awesome in their game. Would have been an excellent hire but maybe geography was a hurdleThe Kennesaw State coach turned that program around and had Xavier on the ropes last week.
I was typing similar when you postedSeems like a rushed desperation hire for Providence. George Mason was very ho hum this year.
Did they even kick the tires on anyone else? The Kennesaw State coach turned that program around and had Xavier on the ropes last week. Iona found a coach with a more impressive track record.
My sense (with no evidence besides how fast things have moved) is that PC knew Cooley had a foot out the door and began planning contingencies ahead of timeOr it has been in the works for a while and people at PC were working on this.
Slim pickings out there!!!Surely unproven and now in a very very strong conference with great players and coaches. Always a possibility to become a good coach at this level. Gonna be tough but good luck!
Pretty sure they're talking about Kennesaw State and you're talking about Jerome Tang at Kansas StateNot sure why he'd leave KSU. He's making 2.5 million a year in a good basketball conference. They had a few bad years under Weber, but they had a bunch of 20+ win seasons in the past couple decade. PC would be a step down for him... that program is going to be decimated. Only players staying are ones that might be forced to (Hopkins, CFJ)
If Mr. Cooley was a player in RI might be safe to assume he will be in DC / on road as well...sorry Mrs Cooley. Of course it's all pure conjectureThey are lying by saying he left because it was a better job. That may be true but the reason he left without going into all the sordid details, of which there are many is the guy has many personal problems that preclude him from staying married and staying in Providence. Yes, I suppose leaving out those details hammers home the narrative that Providence is a lower-tier job/program, when if those details were published, that narrative would be more ambiguous. They are lying by saying he left because it was a better job.
