What an outstanding performance.18 rebounds, and 3 blocks,as well as 6 points.Yes it was Temple, but that shouldn't matter. This should be a real confidence builder for her, that she can be a terror in the paint.Seems to me she is gaining confidence in herself little by little, and that the coaches are seeing improvement in her game.Way to go Kiah!!

Temple out-rebounded us 42 to 39. Without Kia, our rebounding performance would have been truly dismal. She was a big difference maker. It's great to see her do well!

And yet when he was interviewed after the game, Geno made a little face when discussing her output.
He needs her (wants her, implores her) to look for inside offensive possibilities.

At the end of the first half he criticized the lack of paint scoring when Stef and Stewie were absent.

Kiah's a really a superb rebounder and blocker, he knows there is a lot more to unlock in her game.

It's rumored that she likes the little Dust Devil as that leaves her other hand free for "other" activities.

Geno's memory about the baskets seemed to be a bit off since Moriah and the guards did most of the scoring on layups when Stewie and Stef were out. It doesn't need to be the bigs, or well Kiah, that getsthose buckets.

And good news is that UConn has now firmly taken over the scoring defense top national ranking with the 36 point stinginess today, and a lot of that is due to Kiah in the middle.

Kiah just again showed everybody what a beast she can be when she wants to... The only problem is she doesn't bring that type of game attitude every night. ......18 boards , Wow!

She does, when she gets a chance to play significant minutes. Maybe in practice, she doesn't bring that type of game attitude every time...

Kiah benefited from the foul trouble and the Tuck injury and got to play
28 minutes. She did a nice job when they needed her. She seems to step
it up when she has to. Like Geno said, we need a little more offense out
of her. When that happens, look out! If there is no A. Wilson next year,
she will be IT.

Our little corner of the Boneyard section at WBA started a "Kiah, Kiah, Kiah" chant, don't know if it was heard on TV. Got a bit of a grin out of Kiah, though.

True, but UConn shot well: 51.6% to Temple's 21.3% UConn got more defensive rebounds than did Temple, and simply had fewer opportunities for O-boards.

Whomever posted the Temple vs. UCONN box score on ESPNw, can't add. If you add up the OREB + DREB = REB for each individual player, Temple's total rebounds is 33,
while UCONN's total rebounds is 35.

A lot of T's offensive rbds were long clangs off of 3 pt shots.

The ESPN stats are all over the map. Initially, they had Kiah with 15 rebounds. That's a long way from 18.

Too true.... but can one of the Mods change the title of this thread so that the girl's name is spelled correctly?

Total rebounds = the sum of player rebounds + team rebounds.

Team rebounds are things like an opposing player misses and the ball caroms out of bounds.

The ESPN box was different from the official box today--by a wide margin. When the game ended, Kiah had "only" 15 per ESPN.

Also forgot to mention in the first half they had Stewie with 3 fouls and Stef with 2. It was the other way around.

No because this thread was clearly about Kia Nurse.

Alex, rare mistake on your part. The team with the higher shooting percentage tends to have an advantage in rebounding since 70% of rebounds go to the defensive team. Example: each team takes 50 shots but team A makes 25, team B makes 20. You would expect team A to get 30*70% + 25*30% = 28.5 rebounds. Team B would be expected to get 30*30% + 25*70% = 26.5.

team rebounds count too...

I think next year's Huskies are going to be just fine.
