Kia is going to contribute wherever she plays. I think the physical game of the pro's suits her. She's going to be the type of player that puts a winning team over the top for a championship and the kind of opponent other teams will hate to face, especially in a playoff series.

I wondered in the past if Kia might actually have a better rookie year than Gabby...or even a better first two years. The thinking was that straight out of the box she'd more suited to be a role player guard in the WNBA with her long range shot, while being decent enough on defense to not get humiliated. Not afraid of physicality either.

Gabby has the higher upside, but more pieces that need to be adjusted to the pro game. It's a new challenge to figure out how to get off her shot against the bigger and faster defenders there, especially lacking reliable long range as she does.

Way too early to tell if that will be the case. Not a bad couple of preseason games for Nurse, though.

Great point. It's going to take a good 7-10 games into the season to get a good feel for how the rookies are acclimating. After Stevens scored 19 or so points in her first game, a poster said (with heave sarcasm) something like "Geno said she wasn't ready for the WNBA. Yeah right...". Then she promptly went 0-6 in her next game with 2 TO's and only 4 boards in almost 20 minutes.

Point is it will be up and down for the rookies for the most part. Good points on Gabby - players are bigger and stronger, and as she develops a deadly mid range game, and even her long range game, she will be even more versatile and dangerous in the WNBA...
