Kia Nurse is on a roll – one that she hopes extends all the way to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The 20-year-old Hamilton, Ont., native played a pivotal role in helping the University of Connecticut Huskies to their fourth straight NCAA Division I women's basketball championship in April. That came on the heels of helping Canada win a gold medal at the FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament in Edmonton last summer, which was preceded by a gold-medal performance at the Pan Am Games in Toronto.

"I could never get tired of winning," Nurse said with a laugh

We are often referred to as being very precise and use alot of finesse to achieve our greatness. I feel that Nurse gives us that toughness (roughness?) that many of our opponents aren't prepared for. Every great team has a player that supplies these things, and Kia is ours!!

With the departure of the BIG 3, I think we'll begin to see more scoring from Kia Nurse. More plays will be ran for her (along with Lou, Napheesa and Gabby). If Geno gives her the green light (like Stewie and Tuck had), don't be surprised to see a side if Kia we haven't seen yet. We got a glimpse of it last summer. :p

Doris Burke gave Kia a very nice complement this year during a TV game. Burke said "there are two players on UConn's team you can't get by". Moriah was one, Kia was the other one. Burke added: "If you try and get by either one of them, its not going to happen". It takes a lot of hard work and determination to keep your man in front of you (which is one of the things Geno insists on), Mo and Kia mastered that skill. Some of thee best offensive plays today (men or women) can't play "in your shorts" defense.

One small correction - they did not beat the #1 ranked USA team in the PanAm games - they beat a USA college all star team in the PanAm games.

Maybe it should have been number one seed. ;)
