Kimani follows him and his coach. He plays at Daytona State in Florida (transferred from Virginia Tech).

Daytona State just so happened to have a game at College of Central Florida on the 30th (same day when UConn arrived in Florida for the UCF game) and as we know, as soon as the UConn plane landed all the coaches went out recruiting.

Daytona State lists him as 6'10" 245 and he's averaging 17 points and 9 rebounds a game.

This is the kind of big we need, a power big man who can defend and dunk everything close to the rim.

Some more info on him -

Coveted forward Khadim Sy feeling right at home at Daytona State

"According to Verbalcommits.com, since mid-September, Sy has received offers from Auburn, Ole Miss, LSU, Texas Tech and East Carolina. Schools like Oregon, Clemson and Georgia Tech have shown interest. "

“He’s definitely up there with the top players I’ve ever coached,” said Morris, who spent the last decade as an assistant at Alabama, South Alabama and Southern Idaho before taking the DSC job in May.

“He’s had several DeMarcus Cousins, Joel Embiid-type comparisons. He can dribble, shoot 3s, pass. He’s one of the most talented guys in the country.”

So he’s come here with 3 years of eligibility but likely only play two?

Seems to have had issues with VaTech though. Twice transferring is not a good look. Any "experts" know why?

Not sure the reasons but good summary here:

Khadim Sy leaves Virginia Tech again

This is the second time Sy has left Virginia Tech, the first coming right before the 2017-18 season. Rumors of Sy being unhappy were rampant from the end of his freshman season but no action was taken until the season was about to kick off. Khadim left and attended Tallahassee Community College in preparation of transferring to a different D-1 University after his graduation.

After arriving, Khadim had a change of heart and realized he left Blacksburg too quickly. He never suited up for Tallahassee CC and returned to Virginia Tech in December. Although he was eligible because he never played with TCC, Buzz Williams decided a redshirt was in his best interest and the teams best interest.

The Hokies are at a crossroads again with Sy leaving the team right before the season started. Sy was going to have a big role this season as the only big man backup behind Kerry Blackshear. Now the Hokies go into this season with only one true post player. Buzz Williams will have to keep Chris Clarke and PJ Horne out on the floor at all times and hope that Blackshear stays out of foul trouble, similar to last season.

He's a kid you offer the starting job to and have a coach basically stationed at his school.

This is the game i was at!!!!!! Sat next to Mike Boynton and an assistant from Oregon and Bruce Weber was a few rows back!

Juco - there are plenty of ballas here! Not many bigs, Sy looks the part. Not slender, nice touch, solid athlete. Bryce Williams from his team looks like a future NCAA star headed to Ole Miss. Ben Gordon performance that night, scored from all levels.

Are we actively recruiting him? I was looking everywhere for a UConn assistant. Tons of coaches there.

3* when he committed originally to VA Tech, but had very good offers. Also:

Since Sy moved to the United States, from Senegal, he has gone to school at Oak Hill. He is familiar with the western part of Virginia, which is where both Oak Hill and Virginia Tech are located. Sy was somewhat under the radar, as he played his junior year behind Ohio State’s Daniel Giddens (a top 50 recruit) and spend the majority of the summer battling injuries, and on the sidelines.

Sy ended up with a host of high major offers, and ended up taking four official visits. Purdue, Kansas St, and Georgia Tech went by first and Sy ended up committing to Virginia Tech on his official visit to Blacksburg.
