I know he is probably low on our pg list with the likes of Perkins, McLaughlin, Tejada etc, but he has been making some noise lately and I am curious if you think UConn will offer. He attended the KD skills academy, and LBJ skills academy. Florida has been talking to him and Wake Forrest just offered, and he is on the USA East team for the Global Challenge. He said he wants to commit in August. So do we offer a New York kid that supposedly wants to come to UConn? I say yes given our history of point guard misses. I love KO but out recruiting Kentucky and some other majors will be tough.

Thoughts?

He has an offer from UConn and has listed UConn, St Johns and Cincy as his 3 favorites. But he is not a PG he is a 2 guard

You are correct according to TOS we have offered. He currently holds offers from :

DePaul
BC
West V
Iowa
Pittsburgh
Providence
SMU
South Carolina
UConn

Decent list.

How about the local kid Kahari Beufort (sp) he really seems to want to play at home. I think Minn. offered. Any thoughts?

I think he really wants to play here but don't think he's good enough

I was on the fence with Kahari B. after watching him play several times this past season. Right now I would certainly prefer an upgrade.

If the staff puts the full court press on Robinson and Carrington I think UConn has a very legitimate chance of signing them both.

Hopefully Carrington stays uncommitted till spring and we can then decide if we need him. Oubre, Robinson, Perkins, Black, Abu, Chukwu, Joseph, Chatman. All are higher priorities than him. Im not sure Carrington is better then Wade Baldwin.

Does Robinson play in the post? It was my impression that he was more of a wing or stretch-four.
Last week he told scout he was being recruited as a SF and stretch PF.

He's a stretch-four. Meaning he would be used at PF.

I realize a stretch-four is a PF, but stretch-fours don't generally play in the post. Hence the "stretch". I think by saying UConn needs a top level PF, 99 was implying that we need help down low with a guy that gets after it on the boards. In addition to hopefully landing Robinson of course.

I actually like Carrington over some higher rated guys. He is a basketball player and a competitor.
Could not agree more - he reminded me so much of a mini-Harden the three times I watched him (no, I'm not predicting he'll be that good).

I really feel that a lot of these recruiting services overrate athleticism at the expense of players with tremendous skillsets. Carrington strikes me as the type of guy who will be an excellent scorer by his junior. He just seems to have a knack for putting the ball in the basket.
