Kevin Ollie and OKC

In an equal pay scenario, it would cost okc ~12 mil between ollies buyout, brooks' contract and ollies first year of salary.
That's the point I've been trying to drive home. No disrespect to KO, but that's a lot of money to invest in a first time NBA head coach. On top of that, there is no guarantee that Durant will resign with OKC if KO becomes head coach.

Obviously KO loves UConn, but the OKC job would be tough to pass up provided it is made available. This is one of the few jobs where I think there would be cause for legitimate concern if it opened up. The opportunity to coach a couple of generational talents doesn't come around too often.

The real question is whether or not he gets an offer. I have no doubt he would entertain some very genuine interest. Similar to Shaka bolting unexpectedly to Texas (1 of the few offers he was interested in). My guess is OKC won't do what's needed to pull him away from UConn.

Follow the contract.
First 3 years have a very high buy out (I second that thank you to Mr Warde). After that the buy out decreases dramatically. Ollie clearly was committing to be here 3 years minimum, meaning we have 2 left before he wanted the opening to leave.
Of course things can change, but I think Ollie spelled it out.
Plus Ollie is still learning. 25% of the board was looking to fire him a couple weeks ago(or force him to change his staff).
Relax.

Not meant to freak people out but this needs to be posted. I firmly believe Ollie will stay with Uconn even if he is offered the OKC job but still don't like seeing this.

I'll bet my life he's not going anywhere. It's just that time of year where NBA teams are scrapping for a coach.

Karma. Why bring up the subject of Ollie going to OKC?. Replacing Ollie will be extremely difficult and recruits will leave and UConn may never recover.
Lol, so by not talking about the possibility of KO leaving, it will in turn help it from never coming true?

That particular strategy has some major holes...

This has become a pretty ridiculous thread especially considering the fact OKC does not even have a head coaching job opening right now lol.

There are more headwinds for KO in current situation than a year ago and a unique opportunity, if offered. UConn is special to him but he has worked for many teams - working for a new employer is not a major jolt to him.

Until he says other to the contrary, this thread will live on. If he denies any thought of leaving UCONN, you can bet we will see this thread next year and the year after and the.....

More headwinds? As in plural????......List 1.

So essentially, one of you needs to be murdered at the end of all this. Can't wait to find out who!

So you murder someone for thinking a coach might leave on a sports internet blog. There is a much bigger World out there - if you leave your parents basement, get away from your computer or smartphone and actually do something that matters.

No response needed - Leebo just did it for me.

Also, I escaped my parent's basement three years ago, thank you very much.

Chief I'm pretty sure you're the one in the basement . Lets not revisit the drummond scenerio... You know the ''miscommunication"?

He can be posting in a thread 20 years from now about a recruit who's not even born yet, and the Drummond scenario would be brought up.

It was one of those rare internet occurrences where someone gets their cyber pants pulled down in front of the entire school.

The beauty of that moment was that any other night, Drummond could have been sitting at home, and we still would have believed Chief.

The fact that he was at another game in a different state and there were pictures for verification was absolutely perfect. The planets aligned for that one.

Enlighten the uninformed please.
