Mind = Blown

Like infinity x infinity +3 blown?

He's very versatile and is using his increased scoring to elevate his team. Not pouring it on in 20 point blowouts.

One thing that makes him tough to defend is that the ball frequently goes into the basket when he shoots it. If the ball didn't go in so much, he'd be much easier to defend. "You can have that," defenders might say. "I don't mind."

So the whole point is that there isn't analyzing his game. You can try and sound smart and analytical but in the end, it's all obvious with what he does.

He's tall enough to shoot over any one smaller than him and he keeps the ball high above his head. He's quicker than any one his size and he just dribbles around them. And he's lights out from almost 30 feet and in.

One of the purest, most versatile scorers ever. Kobe, MJ and Lebron all had to work much harder for their points. You probably have to go back to Jabbar or Chamberlain to find players who scored as effortlessly.

Now you can take the Skip Bayless approach and pontificate or take the Kenny Mayne approach and just say he's really good.

Portland Trailblazers: "But Greg Oden had the potential to be a franchise center."
As much as I love KD, that was a smart pick at the time. Of course in retrospect...

No, it was a risky pick.

There's plenty of history in terms of risk when you draft a 7 footers who has a history of leg and foot injuries before they leave college. And he only played one year at OSU.

He was a high risk, high reward pick.

That's true but oden looked incredible at times with osu. Everybody makes that pick , there were alot of questions about durants ability to handle physical play. durant and lebron are playing like aliens . Nobody's even close

There were plenty of people that thought picking Oden was a mistake at the time the pick was made.

Read the last paragraph. It was definitely a debate, but there were so many people hyping a potential franchise center . That and already having brandon Roy. The draft is such a wierd thing it's hard to criticize teams, I mean nobody talks about hawks picking Marvin Williams over cp3.

I hate to always drag this out, buuuuuuuut . . . guy had hip surgery in jr. high, as I recall, and it it left him with one leg substantially shorter than the other.

That right there was enough to make him less than a "sure thing" franchise center, and given that the #2 pick had just posted crazy collegiate numbers and was a 6/10 guy who could handle the rock and shoot from deep, picking Oden was, in fact, a substantial gamble.
