They have the best center in the country, allowing the rest of the team to take risks and play loose. Davis is a stud, with more weight and conditioning he will be similar to a Ewing type of player. Very impressed with him.

You can't even compare Drummond to him at this point. In fact I used to think that Drummond had the higher ceiling but I'm am not so sure. Both will be special in a few years, Drummond has some catching up to do, even though he may be the higher pick.

I would be shocked if Drummond is a higher pick. While Andre is a better athlete, he has nowhere near the skill level of Davis and Davis still has a lot of improvement and growing in him. You watch Davis handle the ball, hit foul line extended jumpers, and completely decimate the opponents offense and there is really very little comparison. The biggest thing Andre has to realize is how good he can be. Once he conquers the mental side, he'll be a star.

Their career paths until now have made a big difference - Davis was a guard, grew 7-8 inches (or whatever it is), and maintained a fair amount of his guard's coordination and feel for the game. Meanwhile, Drummond developed a perfect body/athleticism to be a power interior player, but was coached by people who apparently wanted him to play like a guard and didn't teach him any post moves at all, so he is way, way behind in where he should be. The success of the Bynum project (really only knee injuries have stopped him from being a consistently dominant NBA player) may still allow Drummond to go higher than he should. Ahead of Davis, probably not, but of course it could depend on workouts and what the team drafting needs/thinks.

I don't think Drummond comes within arms each of Davis at the NBA level. There is an X factor instinct/intangible that Davis has that doesn't exist in Drummonds hardwiring. Sure, Drummond will be a serviceable NBA player on body/athletecism, but I see him more of a Chris Wilcox type. Whereas Davis has the instinct/body connection that makes a kid special. Steve Kerr was on ESPN radio a couple weeks ago talking about big men in the NBA and the fact that many of them don't even like basketball - it chooses them over them choosing it. When you're 6'11", everyone just points at you and thinks basketball. Whereas not the case with guards, whereas they go out and play because they love the sport. It was interesting to listen to. I don't want to apply that notion to Andre, but my sense is that if there was a scale on it, Davis would rate lightyears ahead.

I agree with pretty much all of this.
