Kentucky in CBS Sports Classic? | The Boneyard

Kentucky in CBS Sports Classic?

This is the event that also has UNC, UCLA, and Ohio State? I’d imagine if this were true we’d be replacing one of the B1G teams.

The KSR guy said it's likely between UConn and St. John's to replace UCLA. If they add St. John's over UConn that would be incredibly annoying and entirely undeserved. And the TV execs will be regretting their decision in 2 years when Pitino is gone and St. John's goes back into the basement.

It's a network run event. I'm sure UConn will get invited first. AD/Hurley will have to look at matchups and what the payout is.

This one doesn't excite me.
I'd like to see us, rightfully, replace Michigan State in the Champions Classic (if that's the name). How they were chosen, with their one championship, to be part of that event made its title a misnomer. (I know, I know, you could say the plural comes from the number of teams, not each one)

You aren't wrong, but that's not happening.

I agree with you but have to give MSU credit for their two titles(1979, 2000). It’s not like they’re Syracuse.

Unfortunately the old MSU AD is the one who created the event. Maybe once Izzo is gone ESPN will give them the boot.

This event still has Kentucky and UNC. Yeah, playing OSU every 3rd year would be lame but sign me up for UNC or UK every other season

I don't see this as a diss. St. Johns won the BE conference last season, so picking them would be understandable.

I just feel we are on a different level and am not threatened when other Conference foes get some shine. We own the spotlight after all.

It is harder to claim the 6th borough when SJU is good.
