that's good bro! so true!I agree, Hurley's sales pitch is exactly the opposite. Callipari become beholden to his players, but Hurley's become beholden to UConn.

He used to have a reputation of stressing D when he was at UMass and wherever he went after that (Memphis...too old to remember and too lazy to look it up).Cal said he focused on offense last year because his players couldn't play defense.
Contrast with Castle saying he couldn't play defense when he got to UConn because his high school coach didn't ask him to play defense. Yet somehow, in his freshman year with Dan Hurley he becomes one of the best defense players in the country.
HHHmmmmmmm. Maybe the problem was Cal didn't (or couldn't) teach his players to play defense.
That pick is a head scratcher. Must want to spend his one year in a warm place that's sunny 99% of the time. That's the only answer.Big one for the wrong Hurley

Arizona State basketball recruiting: Five-star C Jayden Quaintance is top-rated recruit in Sun Devils history
Quaintance originally signed with Kentucky, but committed to Arizona State on Mondaywww.cbssports.com
More likely, NIL.That pick is a head scratcher. Must want to spend his one year in a warm place that's sunny 99% of the time. That's the only answer.
Pretty sure that kid is super young and has to play 2 yearsThat pick is a head scratcher. Must want to spend his one year in a warm place that's sunny 99% of the time. That's the only answer.
Kentucky and Arkansas have NIL too. He's a 5 star.More likely, NIL.
Think the next step for Hurley is showing his guys in the NBA get to those big second contracts. We recruited three of those types of players — Flagg, Ngongba and Edgecomb — this winter. We just don’t often land them.
Hurley’s next task is going to be getting these kids and getting them to buy in like Castle did (and castle, for the record, was never anything but a one-and-done).
And a one and done with a natty. Wonder if the aforementioned names above are having any buyers remorse now?We recruited three of those types of players — Flagg, Ngongba and Edgecomb — this winter. We just don’t often land them.

Andre is definitely going to help Castle and Clingan imo. The counter to all of this three point shooting is to get tall, long, athletic defenders that can run guys off the three point line, have motors that never quit, post guys up, and get in the lane, to the rack, and to the line. Defense and bigs are making a comeback. As the Suns just found out against Minnesota.Think the next step for Hurley is showing his guys in the NBA get to those big second contracts.
That’s what Cal sells them on is not only getting to the NBA, but being prepared enough to get big contracts once there.
Calhoun also used to do the same because his guys made a lot of money (sometimes even got overpaid in some cases).
Yeah pretty consistently near the top of ‘most attractive coeds’ lists if you’re into that sort of thing.Arizona State is a pretty “fun” school to go to for a year.
I mean Drummond and that season is the perfect example of what he's talking aboutWe hear you. . . .

I think an ideal C for next year is Bobbie Avila a kid in the portal who has listed Uconn as one of his prefered schools already.
He is playing for a back to back, national champ. Bobby Hurley did it as a player.Maybe he heard “Hurley” and jumped at the chance to play for a 2-time and back-to-back national champ.
And maybe he still hasn’t realized it’s Bobby…
If I was a HSer full of hubris to the point where I think I can go anywhere and be a lottery pick. ASU wouldn’t be a bad place to spend a year as the man on campus. Especially with NILYeah pretty consistently near the top of ‘most attractive coeds’ lists if you’re into that sort of thing.
Agreed we are set at 5I just have no interest in 5* centers. They're the 1st round fantasy RBs of recruits. If it works out, they're unstoppable. But way too often they miss and then bolt to league based on potential and measurables and you're left with nothing.
They probably sold him on starring in that docuseries they're filming with Bobby.Bobby is very different than Danny. This must have cost ASU millions. He wanted $3m. I bet he settled for $1.5-2m.
That’s what I said earlier, he’s so young that he actually has to play 2 years in college (or over seas etc..) before he can enter the draftjust seen that he turns 17 in July, dude is a full year ahead of his class , surprised he was never held back and re-classed a year.
