College football is the most corrupt sport in America. I believe there is widespread fixing of games by officials, in part because it is so easy. A ref can move a differential 14 points with 2-3 key whistles in a game. There are few possessions, and a handful of plays dictate the outcome of the whole contest.
Basketball is much tougher to fix, because there are lots of possessions and no individual possession is all that important until the last minute. So if an officiating crew wants to swing the outcome of the game, they really have to be committed to it because they will have to make 10+ ridiculous BS calls in the same direction to meaningfully move the scoring differential.
I will give the refs at the Kentucky game one thing tonight. They were really committed to getting the outcome they wanted.
