The poll is conducted via a Bradley-Terry comparison algorithm. Every voter is given 50 hypothetical pairings and the voter says who will finish higher in KenPom at the end of the year.

The Big East ended up as the 3rd strongest conference.

UConn's players from EvanMiya pre-season rating. Mostly derived from pedigree and previous performance. Understandably Ball and Stewart will be underrated in this.

i'd like to see a kenpom/time progression of the past couple of seasons. the idea is that these teams get better the more they run the system. my impression is that the aggregate scores tend to underrate these teams and their true ratings are even higher. the tourney margin of victory is pretty real.

If Hassan Diarra is the 61st best player in the country at the end of the year, we are winning the title again.

I just cant believe that it feels like we won the title last week and the season is just a few weeks away. Where did summer go?

His system actually had him as the 43rd best player in the country last year.

His system definitely has some "great team rubs off on a lot of guys" going on, but Diarra was a lot higher than Samson despite playing a lot of minutes. He impacts winning. But he's essentially switching positions this year (he played more minutes off ball last year than at PG), so we'll see how that goes.

This is one thread I have no idea what I'm reading.

Looks like some time wasting, complicated stuff.

Are there any Cliff Notes (yeah, I'm old) ?

Saw some poll yesterday that had Alabama and Kansas ahead of UConn. Until we start to see what these teams will look like this is an exercise in futility.

Subscribers of KenPom, an analytics website, voted UConn #1 through an algorithm/process that is designed to be more accurate and have less groupthink. Humans are good at comparing two things, but not as good at ranking multiple similar complex things in order. But if you get enough comparisons of two things (thousands), you can turn those individual matchups into an actual ranked list using math. And yeah, UConn #1 from smart basketball fans who pay money to look at analytics. KenPom uses this "H.U.M.A.N" ranking as a small piece of his overall algorithm, which will be released soon.

Evan Miya also released his analytical model. It's pretty good in general and unfortunately had UConn 9th, which is better than some other models like Torvik which has us in the teens.

Movie gif. Kel Mitchell as Ed in Good Burger, looks at a piece of paper in the kitchen. He points to something on the page and nods, then looks to someone off screen and says, I know some of these words.
