Unlike most rankings, which seem biased against the AAC, KenPom has six teams in the top 86. SMU is at 16, Cincy at 25, Houston at 38, which would easily put them in the tournament, UCF at 74, Memphis at 85, and UConn at 86. Would be nice if the committee gave his rankings a lot of weight. He's less snowed by some of these P5 teams. Cuse is at 51.

How can a statistical model be biased against a conference?

Cuse is in the 70's in the RPI by the way, so KemPom gives them more credit.

Garbage in, garbage out.

AAC is the 7th rated conference by Kenpom.

This is allegedly the final year the committee will look at the RPI, thankfully.

Houston could be this years Tulsa.

the RPI is bolstered by playing weaker cupcakes. At some point, a cupcake is a cupcake, and playing number 150 should be weighed fractionally higher than playing team 300

If Team A played teams ranked 1-10 and then teams ranked 300-310 and Team B plays teams ranked 120-140, who played a tougher schedule? The RPI concludes Team B did

I'm going to ridiculous extremes to emphasize a point, but that's essentially the backbone of my argument against the RPI

Anybody out there want to give me SMU plus points vs St Mary's on a neutral court? How about UCLA getting points from Butler? or VA from MN?

Maybe they should let Vegas rank the teams ;)

The various BPI indexes also rate every AAC team higher than or as high as RPI does. I'm hopeful that the committee looks at those more closely this year. At the very least they provide some information for teams on the margins.
