His close relationship with Lionel Ritchie produced life long friends, a wealth of hits, and immeasurable pleasure for fans around the world. The song "Islands In The Stream" was written by The BeeGees and is one of my favorite songs by either of them. Kenny had clearly been dealing with health issues for quite some time and that burden is now lifted from his shoulders. RIP to one of the good guys from any genre of music.

I always liked his voice. soothing is how I would describe it. thinking about a fav song of his, I remembered this version, from back before 'busy bodies' started to run amuck and tell everyone 'the only way to live' and the 'only way to talk to children.' here ya go, muppet show, alcohol, death, cigarettes, ….Kenny. classic in my book.

Saw him years and years ago, in a double bill with Anne Murray. What was the Garden State Arts Center.

The songs were familiar and enjoyable, it wasn't his best performance ever I'm sure, but we were so glad to have heard him sing his classics in person.

I find it so sad that the entire musical generation that I listen to are fading away.

May he rest in peace.

RIP Kenny:

Merely one of his great songs written by a paralyzed Vietnam vet. It gets me every time. Far more than "Lady", which I love.

Some of us first heard of Kenny Rogers when he was lead singer of The First Edition (before it became Kenny Rogers and The First Edition) and had a hit in early 1968 with Just Dropped In

On a warm summer's evening'
On a train bound for nowhere.
Isn't that one of the greatest openings ever for a song?
About 18 years ago my son and I drove cross country from CT to CA singing a lot of the way. The Gambler was at the top of our list. And now it’s happened, the Gambler he broke even. RIP Kenny.

My mother who is for quite some time gone always referred to him as "The Silver Fox". I thought she had it right for the adulation from her age group.
Personally I have used "I just dropped in to see what condition your condition is in" for years when getting the message machine calling friends or family. A great artist, may he rest in peace.

Kenny Rogers is of a very humble background. One of 8 children, grew up in a public housing project in Houston's Fourth Ward, just west of downtown.
