Coming from a UConn fan living in the great state of Texas, no matter how bad the football program or basketball program may be the campus life is so crazy at UT Austin that players would go no matter what.... Plus they do a good job in getting former players like Kevin Durant or LaMarcus Aldridge in convincing kids to go.

Durant actually told the UConn staff he was picking UConn. Then changed his mind. I don't remember if that was ever public but I was told that from a very good source about as close to the process as you can be.

It ain't Barnes, its the campus, weather and chicks. Hard to beat Austin in those categories. Its as if you've got to wrap some kids up before they get to the Texas campus.
