Kemba starting today....

He started their last game a few nights ago, and put up 23 points. Their head coach said he would continue to start.

His shot is waaay off today (1-7 from floor at half), but he's playing pretty well overall. Four assists, a couple steals (one on in the inbounds pass with a quick pass for a lay-up), a couple hustle rebounds, and his only turnover should have been a foul - looked like Irving hacked him from behind. He's missed a few uncontested shots, including one where the entire lane opened up for him and he alligator-armed a five footer. His J clearly isn't there today.

Sounds like a rookie playing in the NBA. Irving vs Walker should be something to watch in the future years. Two talented PGs coming in at the same time, both will only get better.

Kemba made last two shots had a steal and went one for two at the foul line last 2 minutes.

He is in full-fledged "chuck mode" now. He was 4-10 in the third quarter and is 5-17 for the game - although three of his third quarter shots were buzzer-beaters, a 50-footer, and two when he was thrown the ball with three seconds left on the shot clock and had to force it. He split a double and missed an elbow jumper when he probably could have looked for a pass.

The extra 2-3 inches that Irving has on him make such a difference with finishing at the rim. Irving has been able to twist and turn for lay-ups in traffic, while Kemba just gets swallowed up underneath the rim.

And now Irving giving Cleveland an 8 pt lead.

did not see the game, 21 shots?? was it an Iman Shumphert type performance? don't want to criticize since I didn't see the game but if you're going to hoist up 21 you gotta make more than 6.

From what I saw, he had some nice shots. A couple nice moves, but also made one or two poor decisions. I did notice how many shots he took on the box score though. Augustine was MUCH more efficient today. But Kemba still brings more of a spark to that team.

Well, that was a bummer. Just one game, but Kemba played into every negative stereotype about him (high-volume chucker, not a point guard) and didn't produce the positive stereotype at all (winner in crunch time). Plus, Irving got the better of him - he just makes plays at the rim at 6-3 that Kemba can't at 6-0.

The 21 is slightly padded by four shots - a 50-footer at the third quarter buzzer, two times he was passed the ball with 3 on the shot clock and had to chuck, and a final end-to-end drive with 20 seconds left when he was just trying to score as quick as possible down by 8 and the game really over. I thought he played well in the first half at 1-7 from the floor, but doing a lot of other good things. In the second half, he had one brief spurt in the third when he looked good, but it didn't last (he finished one for his last six) - after he made a couple, he tried to ride the hot streak, but shot himself back into a slump, and he didn't provide much else.

Augustine should have been the one shooting 21 times today - he was in a good rhythm.
