Corey Brewer had a 51 point game in 2014.

Decent player but was mostly known as a defensive player.

The turn this thread has taken has gotten me thinking about Brimah's 40 point game.

Please show me one example where a "below average player" has scored over 30 points in an NBA game.

Eh, I'm bored at work so what the hell:

• Our very own Charlie Villanueva against the Bucks 2006 (35 pts)
• Rodrigue Beaubois against the Warriors 2010 (40 pts)
• Mike Taylor against the Knicks 2009 (35 pts)
• Salim Stoudamire against the Trailblazers 2007 (37 pts)
• Travis Outlaw against the Warriors 2007 (36 pts)
• Marcus Thornton against the Pacers 2014 (42 pts)
• Samuel Dalembert against the Nuggets 2012 (35 pts)

This of course is contingent on your definition of "below-average," but these guys aren't necessarily the cream of the crop.

Agreed, and it will take time for his style of play to completely gel with a significantly better roster. I don't think it's worth getting overly excited about a performance against one of the worst teams in the NBA. I'll get excited when he does this against top 10 teams WITH the celts.
There’s is a significant difference between getting overly excited and dumping on the guys performance.
Which is the tone if not your intent.
32 and a win is against any NBA team
Is an outstanding achievement.
Watching the reply with Kemba making big shot after big shot against the background of the orange of the MSG floor was a transportation back to 2011. Probably the most magical week in our history.

I meant this year not over the last 15 years. and I'm sorry but anytime one of our guys scores 30 or more in a win I'm going to consider it to be a good thing especially when it's the guy's first week playing with a new team.

I'm sorry, but can you point to where I "dumped on his performance?"

32 points against this seasons Knicks team is hardly an "outstanding achievement." He had a good game, let's leave it at that.

Kemba's had better performances at MSG with Charlotte against better Knicks rosters. I'm happy his performance gave you BET nostalgia, doesn't change the fact it was against one of, if not the worst team in the NBA.

Why so emotional? I never ragged on his performance. I'm pointing out that it's not as sensational a performance as people are making it out to be in this thread.

You're doing Kemba a disservice by overly praising him for trampling over THE KNICKS. Also....we're three games into "this year." Are you serious?

I am serious that I am happy to have one of our guys be a legitimate star (superstar?) and take over the leadership of his new team immediately. Kemba has averaged over 20 ppg his last 4 seasons. Now that he is with the Celts, he will get more noteriety.

I realize 32 isn't a huge deal for Kemba as he averaged 26.5 last season. But it's nice to see him do it immediately playing for a new team.
