Washington guard Kelsey Plum added to the record books yet again Monday night, surpassing the NCAA mark for most points in a single season.

Plum needed 21 points to break Jackie Stiles' record of 1,062 points and finished with 38 in No. 3 seed Washington's 108-82 win over No. 6 seed Oklahoma, as the Huskies reached the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament. Plum now has 1,080 points this season.

Next up is career made free throws. Needs 2 to either tie or break the record. Odds are pretty good she'll make more than 2 FTs next game. She's got her name stamped all over the NCAA record book.

To steal from an announcer, I'll take Plum in the garden with the basketball. And won't she look great in Seattle with Stewie?

Her overall talent, abilities and contributions to her team makes her as good as anybody in the college game. Her character and work ethic further enhance that opinion.

I do not understand how she can drive to the hoop as she does. It appears like people just stand there and watch her go by.

What's her career point total vs Lynette Woodward and Maravich?

Which is why I think she's a deserved shoo in for the POY.

She won't catch Maravich. I believe Woodward played before women's basketball was sponsored by the NCAA, so she is not in the official record books. Not sure what her career total was.

Yes pre NCAA. But still would be nice have a single all-time points leader.
Woodward had 3649.

She would, and learn from Sue for a year or two. There was the interview with Sue a few months (maybe beginning of college WBB) where Sue was joking that Plum needs to have a bad year for Seattle to draft her (at that time Seattle had the #6 pick).

Obviously a terrific talent, but how many games did Stiles play (in record season and in career compared to plum) ?

I believe Plum had played more career games when she overtook Stiles' career record. For the single season record, Plum has played 1 less game than Stiles did at this point. Plum had significantly less career games when she blew past Griner into the #2 spot on the career list.

Stiles set her record of 1,062 her senior year in 2001. She played in 35 games that year. Plum has played in 34 through Sunday, and has 1080 and counting. Plum will break the 1100 point barrier her next game.

Career games - Stiles: 129 - Plum: 138

Thanks for the Wikipedia link Carnac. Did you notice Plum is the only player that appears on the list twice? Two of the top 10 single seasons. Nobody else even had 2 in the top 20. That surprised me quite a bit.

Lynette Woodard played college basketball with the University of Kansas (KU) in 1978, playing there until 1981. She was a four-time All-American at KU, and she averaged 26 points per game and scored 3,649 points in total during her four years there, and was the first KU woman to be honored by having her jersey retired. She is major college basketball's career women's scoring leader.[1]

Her record(s) are not recognized by the NCAA because the NCAA was not the governing body for WCBB at that time.

That's why she will go high in next month's WNBA draft!! :)

If Wikipedia is up to date, Plum has 3498, so she'd need 152 points (4 games, 38 ppg) to pass Woodward.
