I think it's a 3-4 person race this year between Diggins, Rodgers, Faris and maybe KML. Really hoping it goes to Faris though....

It would just be nice to see her get BE POW one time ;0)

Again:Which would you rather have?:

10.8 PPG, 55.1%FG, 45% 3FG, 73.7 FT, 5 R, 4.6 A, 54 steals (3/game) and 7 blocks, with an A/TO of 2.83 - 18 games played
or
15.3 PPG, 40.0% FG, 31.8% 3FG, 87.6 FT%, 3.3 R, 5.9 A, 51 steals (3/game) and 13 blocks with an A/TO of 1.59 - 17 games played

The second will most likely be the near unanimous BE POY.

But the above statistics don't include the all important twitter followers or halftime head band changes categories.

Sugar is a good player, but a volume shooter. She won BE FOY over Skylar, I believe.

As a senior, Skylar has name recognition. Her best stats this year are assists, steals, and FT shooting. Her FG percentage is very low, as is Sugar's, I believe. I can't vote for a sub-40% shooter. I'd draw the line at about 45%. Note that Tiff shot over 50% last year.

One of the requirements to be the BE POY should be that she is the best player on her team. I think McBride may be better than Skylar.

One thing that will help Kelly and hurt Skylar would be a UConn win over ND. If Kelly gets 15 and 8 or better and shuts down Skylar, that should be factored in.

I think Skylar leads, based partly on past success and PR, including 2 title games. However, voters need to avoid pre-judging. Who is the best player in the league? In my view, it's Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, though Kelly should get consideration.

One of the most important contributions Kelly may leave behind is her inspiration of Kaleena.
Agreed. Kelly may have had it on her own, but I think she may have picked up some things from Maya. Tina's growth her senior year was partly attributable to rooming with Miss Maya. I love the way these good qualities rub off on one another.

It would be nice if one was able to definitively quantify the best player on a particular team and nominate players for Big East POY accordingly. Sometimes it is not so easy. My cases in point:
1995 - Despite all the national player of the year accolades accorded Rebecca Lobo, a case can be made for Nykesha Sales being the best player on that UConn team.
1996 - Jennifer Rizzotti was Big East POY and was a national player of the year. Again, Nykesha Sales was the best player on that UConn team.
1997 - Kara Wolters was Big East POY on a team that also included Nykesha Sales.
2000 - Shea Ralph was the Big East POY. Svetlana Abrosimova was the best player on an outstanding UConn team.
2002 - Sue Bird was Big East POY and a national player of the year. Swin Cash led the team in scoring and led the Big East in rebounding. One could argue that she had a better season than Ms Bird. Yet, the best player on that UConn team was Diana Taurasi.
2010 - Tina Charles had a super season and no one is going to argue against her worthiness for Big East POY. But, Maya Moore was the best player on that UConn team.

Despite all this, it is difficult to argue against the choices that were made. However, my biggest case in point, having nothing at all to do with the Big East is Kamie Etheridge winning the Wade Trophy in 1986. It is impossible, in my mind, to award this trophy to anyone else if Cheryl Miller is also in contention. And, Kamie Etheridge was not the best player on her undefeated Texas team, much less the best player in the country.

I like McBride's game more than I like Ms Diggins' game, but I am not ready to concede that she is the best player on Notre Dame's current team.

I agree with the critics of Sugar. She has talent of course, but she takes a ton of shots to get her points. And the last few times I've seen her the decision making has been awful. Unless she really picks up her game I would not be happy to see her win the award - points or no points.

Diggins hit critical shots in ND's comeback/win over UConn.
If ND beats UConn again and goes undefeated, it's hers hands down.

Somewhere, some place under the radar hype there has to b another one. Can Geno find her or has he already found her?

She wasnt *that* much under the radar -- she was rated ~top 15 in high school.

I was talking about under the radar of today's HS players, not Kelly. There has to be one.

Couldn't agree more and I believe she inspired Stephanie as well. Geno has said Kelly is the most athletic fit player on the team and smart players pick up on that praise and try to emulate those same qualities. Guess Stepanie and KML are some smart ones. I believe Kelly or KML has a strong shot at BE POY. Kelly is Superwoman in disguise.
