She guards the other team's best offensive player, rebounds both ends of the floor, hustles the entire game... Now if she could only shoot like Hondo. UCONN is very fortunate to have a player like Kelly; it's a joy to watch her play.

Actually, this makes sense, though I believe that Hondo was the Celtics' career scoring leader. Kelly will never be that type of scorer, but I can almost hear Johnny Most yelling, "Faris stole the ball! Faris stole the ball!"

Like Havlicek, Kelly is always in motion.

That needs to be heard by a younger generation!

I couldn't have enjoyed the Celts any more than I did, but I'd rather have a triple root canal than listen to Johnny Most for even a single second.

Let's agree that Johnny Most was an acquired taste.

IIRC Ashley Battle, as good a defender as she was, had an unfortunate penchant for blowing uncontested layups after a steal. Kelly makes those. I can't recall Battle's shot from the floor to compare with Faris. I also believe that Faris has a better handle, and is more integral to the offense than Battle ever was.

Ashley did play in the WNBA, so there's a big plus for her.

Havlicek is my all-time favorite Celtic. He was a "lunch pail" player...always working...he was in such great physical shape, he had a resting heart rate of 36. The Great Red Auerbach once said of him, "the man never sweats." Unlike Kelly, Hondo was the "go-to" player when the game was winding down and the Celts needed a score. I can't count the number of times he hit the clutch shot to win the game....all calm and cool as can be.

The "Havlicek Stole The Ball" moment is one I will never forget. We were listening to the game on the radio, and Johnny Most just about went insane with the call. Great memories...

The funniest thing I ever heard on radio was when the Celts and Pistons were involved in a real brawl. Most screamed: " Lambeer just floored McHale, and now he's coming after me!

ring,

Ol' Johnny gravelthroat did have a way with woyahds but I never got the feeling that he was being clever or quickwitted, but instead, it seemed to me that he had a penchant for stumbling into and through some very funny dialog. Of course, it may have been the spirits he had with for lunch doing much of the talking. [And yes, I am aware of the fact tat he penned some beautiful poetry when he was a young man.]

Adding insult to injury... The ultimate Boston Homer was born in NYC!
