Kelis Fisher thread

Yes she will fit right in to the UConn killing machine. Having watched the championship game way to many times I came to the conclusion that I could not remember a better defensive effort against a highly rated opponent. SC's efforts to run something were constantly disrupted. It was beautiful to see. No one who took the court gave anything less than everything they had.

She more than held her own in this game

I think she is very under-rated. I prefer Geno’s assessment.
YES, I as many here on the BY have been writing about this since last years summer games. The kids has a monster motor. She is so under-rated without the goods to be upper echelon that the poor girl had to go to UConn. We have seen her play we are certain that she will help UConn be bad for basketball. We have Kelis, you don't. You will soon see what we see, we have the real deal, hide, Kelis is on the way.

incredibly under ranked and underrated. She has some shifty handles, serious physicality for a small guard, and speed.
She's 5'9" supposedly.........that's not a small guard.......she's a "medium sized" guard who will challenge just about any defender regardless of size to get to the basket........I suspect she's going to be a Boneyard favorite next season......

“Supposedly” is just another name for Hartley units. I’ve seen Kelis listed as tall as 5’11”. My unclouded eye thinks she’s more like Ash’s height than KK’s. But who knows how tall Ash really is? :D

1.075 Hartley units?

Geno is happy with her. That's good enough for me even without the evidence of my own eyes. She is remarkably like KK but with a better three ball. Pretty sure she will see minutes off the bench next year. She is going to surprise a lot of people, especially those ESPN hacks who have had her waaay underrated all season.
I think I’ve been guilty myself of overlooking this year’s class. I thought, “well, they will all help us further down the road“ but I think I’ve seriously underestimated this class. Kelis will clearly Imo, contribute as a freshman, Blanca could well be a star, and Gandy could turn out to be a true center for us! In her case, (Gandy) that may take a couple of years but I think it will be well worth the wait!

Reminds me a bit of some of Notre Dame's guards the past ten years. No matter how tall, they were unafraid to drive and initiated contact when going to the basket. Huskies did well with this physical approach this past year as well.
I must have missed that memo---WHEN DID NOTRE DAME GET A TEAM??

Little Miss Sure Shot---i.e. Ashlyn--talk about UNDER RATED--she could easily reached 10 feet in stature. I think this is her year. She isn't one to toot her own horn---by now she may have learned ---take the shot. Her running jumper is pure beauty, her defense is significant, he 3 point shots are often daggers. And she has a smile that lights up the court.

I think she will get her minutes like everyone thinks, but I wouldn't be surprised if Geno subs KK and her more often than the rest of the rotation to keep them playing more minutes at top speed. They are going to be a handful for opponents at both ends and imagine having to defend and be defended by the for 40 minutes. It should be fun to watch.

I share your hope. It wasn’t all that long ago I’d have been shocked to see a player like Kelis crack the rotation as a freshman. But Geno’s experience two seasons ago, when injuries forced him to give freshmen KK and Ash not just rotation spots but even starting spots, may have changed Geno’s approach to freshman in his backcourt.

Kelis could prove to be a revelation next season. And yet, she passed under the radar for so many scouts and coaches. I’m sure KK will start at PG. I wonder if Geno spots kids like this because he has such a good sense for how to put the puzzle of his rotation together. He builds his team for versatility and this leads him to look for types that don’t always stand out.
