2. Connecticut's Kevin Ollie should be the Big East coach of the year. But the national honor is likely going to Miami's Jim Larranaga, barring a late-season collapse. The Hurricanes started unranked and are headed for a No. 1 seed-type season -- the hoops version of what Notre Dame did in college football in going from unranked to the national title game. Wisconsin's Bo Ryan would have to be in the conversation as well, as should Indiana's Tom Crean. The freshman-of-the-year chase has to be one of the most competitive, featuring Kansas' Ben McLemore, Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart, UNLV's Anthony Bennett and Arizona State's Jahii Carson, among others.

LETS GET EMMMMMMMM!!!!!!"
Come on. Not in the Top 20? That's just an egregious error which should be pointed out to the author. Just like Gary Parrish does the Poll Attacks every Monday to point out egregious errors. It's just what we do in sports.

I would love for Ollie to win this award. It would go a long way with helpig out with recruiting. However, I am skeptical since the BE coaches vote on this award. It just seems the last thing they want to do is give Uconn a chance to become a powerhouse again. They wont let us in the BE tourney and most of the coaches are going to the other conferences. There is no incentive for them to vote for Ollie since they wont be in the league. I think they rather continue to make life difficult for us and vote for Lavin or Buzz Williams. Hopefully I am wrong.

Hopefully we are both wrong but decision making isn't always about what is right in the most universal sense but what is right for the person deciding. And often that is rationalized by the individual so that the decision doesn't appear to be selfish.

I think its nuts to have him out of the top 20...but it's a free country. I would like to know his rationale, so if emailing him produces that, then bully for ya.

Agree. Put another way it is okay to be upset about things. But in the end it is better not to let anger become personal. It bites you in the *ss more often than not. Just ask EW.

How far is the 3-point arc in NBA, Olympics, and CBB? Does anyone know? I'd suppose Olympics distance is equal to CBB's? For Jim Dickson's theory to hold up, then the 3-point attempts should lessen if the distance is extended to NBA size. I don't like game-slowing wiper-blade zone defenses, either. Ironically, it is the greatest chance that inferior teams may have at scoring an upset as a result of a slowed game.

Very deep, I always wonder why did you not choose the nick "freudslipcon"?

freudslipcon just gave as a Webster-like definition of rational self-altruism ala Ayn Rand. Not too far from Adam Smith's Invisible Hand concept.

Define "sometimes"

I said "sometimes" because I don't really follow him that closely. After reading his comments about the Big Ten's interest in Uconn maybe I should edit my post.

ko deserves becoy and should be a lock if this team wins 10 games in the conference and 20 or more overall. if he wins the big east then its a no brainer.

I don't though disagree with Jim B comment that your rivalry is usually someone in your league. There are some intra state exceptions but that's generally how it works
