I didn't take that position but call me ignorant because I didn't realize this has been covered extensively. Have those articles been shared here?at this point I don't know why you guys still think they aren't getting paid. this has been covered to death by people who exclusively cover Euro hoops, these guys are getting paid more than they are by their Euro clubs to come over to the states.

Oh cool, thanks for sharing. I read most threads on this board but that one does not ring a bell.thread from last year, the guy narrating the video I posted in this thread is one of the go-tos for Euro hoop transactions and pro transfer news

OT: - NIL Impact On European Prospects
sensationalized YouTube title for algorithm purposes aside, I thought this video was interesting. seems like higher caliber European prospects might be opting to go to college because NIL money is better than what they can get overseas at their age level. The kid BYU signed Egor Demin is...the-boneyard.com
Ok thanks I will check it out.Its hard to find info on the board tbh. Have to scroll through the transferboortal thread.
Why??? What would that accomplish???We haven’t been in contact w any of the stretch 4s, I believe he is coming back and staff knows. Just wants to make the announcement extra special.
Need to get some more players or it will be like the early hurley years when they did not have enough players to practice effectively.Today would be a good day for an announcement.
Why rush it? Deadline isn’t until noon tomorrowToday would be a good day for an announcement.
Well that’s cuz you weren’t wearing pants.Car wash guy smiled, winked, and nodded. All signs point to a return.
The takes on this board that his waiting to announce have no impact on potential replacements are silly imo.The takes on this board about AK’s late decision sabotaging the program are silly. It’s as if many here believe that he’s not having daily conversations with the staff and that the staff doesn’t have some sort of backup plan. Hurley has built his culture on loyalty, integrity, and confidence in his staff’s ability. Allowing AK all the time he needs to make this decision tracks with that. AK is already a Husky legend and the boneyard will always have some boneheads.
I kinda agree with both positions: Alex is a UConn legend, who owes us nothing, and is owed as much time as he needs for this potentially life-changing decision, but…The takes on this board that his waiting to announce have no impact on potential replacements are silly imo.
You do realize once someone commits elsewhere he won’t come here?
But why did they commit somewhere else and not look at UConn? We don't know what is going on behind the scenes. The takes on this board that his waiting to announce have no impact on potential replacements are silly imo.

Do you believe the staff has not evaluated portal replacements for Alex? The takes on this board that his waiting to announce have no impact on potential replacements are silly imo.

Because they don't know if Alex is coming back.. No one who expects to be a starter at the 4 is going to be happy if Alex decides he's coming back...so I doubt any top tier player would commit to coming unless they know Alex is leaving. But why did they commit somewhere else and not look at UConn? We don't know what is going on behind the scenes.
I don't understand these vacuous questions. I'll sum it up with 1 question.....Do you think any player that signed elsewhere since the portal opened could have been a possible Alex replacement but didn't come here because of the possibility of Alex coming back?Do you believe the staff has not evaluated portal replacements for Alex?
Do you believe the staff has not reached out to potential Alex replacements?
Do you believe it’s impossible there were no players that had the skills the staff wanted or, if they did have those skills, they did not meet the cultural preferences or monetary parameters?
Do you believe an indecisive player has frozen the demanding and strong personality of Hurley from setting perimeters on Alex’s decision making?
If so go ahead and scapegoat Alex for the failures around him.
I have the opposite answers to those questions.
Yeah, so? I think you’re underestimating and undervaluing what it means to have high standards and how important loyalty and integrity are to the program. Will Alex taking a little longer have a negative impact on next year’s team? Possibly. Would giving him an ultimatum to decide by your preferred date-or-else tarnish our culture in the long run? It absolutely would. What you want is a Pitino…..no loyalty to the players. I’ll take Hurley and give Alex all the time he needs 10 times out of 10 and I thank him for your interest in UConn basketball. The takes on this board that his waiting to announce have no impact on potential replacements are silly imo.

Of course, they also could be a sign that he'll be giving you a hot wax for free.Car wash guy smiled, winked, and nodded. All signs point to a return.
Well he has until midnight tomorrow. At this point does it matter if we have to wait a day and a half. I bet he announces at 1159 PM on Saturday just to keep the BY guessing lol.I’m a AK fan and appreciate what he’s done. Just don’t like to see his legacy tarnished because of this process.
I think most people just want a decision so we can move on.
