Karaban not happy with the fan attendance

Alex is justified in being upset, but the fans should not be blamed for this. Blame the UConn AD or whoever schedules these games. It is pretty amazing to sell 15,000+ tickets to a “division 2” opponent on a Wednesday night 30 minutes away from campus. Why is UConn playing more than 1 or 2 home games a year in Hartford? Duke and UNC don’t play a bunch of home games in Raleigh or Greensboro. What other major program does that? It made sense before Gampel was built and UConn only had the 3000 seat field house, but doesn’t make sense anymore. It certainly makes absolutely no sense to play a practice scrimmage game there.

I am certain the players would much prefer to play these games on campus. It time for a change. Just play a couple of big games at the civic center each year and leave it at that. Maybe schedule those around the holidays when students are not on campus.

I find it interesting that the game is listed as a sell out so with that I am guessing whatever the gate was supposed to bring in was met. In that case the deal is exactly what UConn wanted based on the fee paid to the opponent.

I really don’t get the yelling at the fans. That is never a good idea. We will fill the XL and Gampel when the team needs us most.

they should probably reign that in to some degree, the only issue is a point another post in this thread hit on. Kansas, Dook and more than likely Kentucky fill the arena with butts in seat for all their cupcake games.
UNC definitely doesn't lol

Game wouldn't have sold out even if it was at Gampel

We didn't even sell out for our Stonehill opener last year. At least we did this time around

Alex might not be pleased tonight, currently over 1k tickets still available on secondary market. Plus what’s available thru UConn.

Last chance to see East Texas A&M Community College State before their program gets defunded and the school closes. People need to realize this is a once and a lifetime game.

I agree but I think players would be less upset by that because they are not traveling to Hartford to play the game. I think having to play home games 30 minutes away on unfamiliar rims is part of the gripe.

Wow, really cheap. Maybe I should drive down for this one. I always like going to Gampel, no matter the competition.

Cheapest seat I saw was $3. I get it that you need a tune-up or 2. But why not just put 5 orange cones on the floor and run around them? People would probably pay $3 to see that. These games are worse than NFL pre-season games. At least nobody pretends those are meaningful.

I went on UConn ticket site first level seats available at well over 100 dollars. I can see why people don’t want to pay that for this level of competition.
Like me your better off watching on my 65 inch Smart TV.

I have 5 seats at Gampel and couldn’t give my 3 extras away.

Have to think if we play local schools we sell out for these buy-games.
I’d love to see some home and homes with former Big East schools like BC, Syracuse, Pitt, and Notre Dame. Maybe UMass would also be interested. There’s got to be schools around that caliber that would be willing to play UConn that we could schedule. They’d provide better early season tests and should still be very winnable games.

Why did you have 3 extras?

Nobody on the Ticket Exchange forum wanted them? I saw a few people who sold theirs on there.

I need to be wasted to sit next to one of you guys. Tonight was not the night.
You give me tickets to the next game and I will buy you enough beers to get wasted. :)

Although the watered down stuff they sell at games is tough to get wasted on. We'll have to down a few real beers in the parking lot before the game.

Here is a fact. I have been to 4 final fours to include the last two….we always have the smallest turnout in the stands and in the student section. If I’m being honest the student turnouts for the two Final 4s has been embarrassing. I think Dan Hurley and players try to really sell how committed the base is but is not proven through the ticket sales at home or in the final four. Good on Dan Hurley, he is winning g Championships but Championships don’t built culture. We are all a little spoiled by recent success…I’m all in on AKs words
