I know what record I want Alex to set but we don't say it out loud.
Season 8 Episode 22 GIF by THE NEXT STEP

.-.
Don’t sleep on Kemba Walker’s freshman final four appearance (although we don’t relish in the memory of that final four much around here)!

I love how for the moment, Roumoglou is tied for the all-time lead in 2 areas.

Tournament Wins (15, 1st) - Karaban started this season at 13 wins tied for first with Samson Johnson, Hassan Diarra, Shabazz Napier, Niels Giffey, and Tyler Olander. His win vs. Furman put him in 1st all time.

Too bad Shabazz, Niels, and Tyler had that lost banned season.

.-.

Two separate UNC runs, and a Duke player. Don't have love for either program, but that's the company we want to keep. Hopefully he keeps adding to that and makes it unlikely anyone will pass him. But his name will keep coming up from now on as those players who seem to stick around forever, and if another non-UConn team has a similar run while maintaining a 4-year player, Alex will be the mark. Something he and the university should be proud of.

A nailbiter and an Elite 8. I am deeply stressed, but our boy Karaban was NAILS against Michigan State.

FG (662, 6th) - Karaban passed Corny Thompson (657) yesterday. Hopefully he will pass Wes Białosuknia (665) against Duke.

DRB (503, 9th) - Karaban is only 8 behind Stanley Robinson (511) for 8th. A monster game on the boards could get him this vs. Duke.

Tournament Points (179, t-7th) - Call this one unofficial, since this data requires me to comb through players' records manually. But Karaban tied Shabazz yesterday. Potentiall within his sights are Emeka (186), Kemba (192), and Ray (195).

Sweet Sixteens (3, t-1st) - Karaban's tied Denham Brown, Hilton Armstrong, Rashad Anderson, Taliek Brown, Shamon Tooles, Ben Gordon, Emeka Okafor (also including Ricky Moore, Rashamel Jones, Travis Knight, Rudy Johnson, Eric Hayward, Doron Sheffer, Ray Allen, and Kirk King if you ignore the Vacated 96 season) for 1st all time in Sweet 16s.

Elite Eights (2, t-1st) - When Karaban starts tomorrow, he will take the lone all time lead for Elite 8s. He is currently tied with a ton of players. With his win against Michigan State, he has become the most successful UConn player in the tournament ever.

Tournament Points (196, 3rd) - Again, this is unofficial. Karaban passed Shabazz (179), Emeka (186), Kemba (192), and Ray (195). Next up are Ben Gordon (234) and Rip Hamilton (235).

Holy moly. That was maybe the greatest game I've ever watched. Absolutely insane. Our boy Karaban wasn't great for 80% of that game, but he came in clutch with a sick 3 pointer, the game winning assist, and the game ending volleyball punch.

FG (664, 6th) - Karaban still is 6th all time. If you had told me he wasn't going to pass Wes Białosuknia (665), I would have said we were probably going to lose. He is 1 shot away from Wes heading into the FF game vs Illinois.

DRB (506, 9th) - Now Karaban is just 5 behind Sticks (511) for 8th. There's a chance he gets it vs Illinois.

Tournament Points (201, 3rd) - Only above Karaban is Ben Gordon (234) and Rip (235). Hot take, but if he passes these guys vs Illinois, we are probably championship bound.

Elite Eights (3, 1st) - There have been no UConn players but Karaban that have 3 Elite Eight appearances.

Final Fours (2, t-1st) - Alex Karaban's next game will put him in the all time lead for Final Fours as well for a UConn Husky. I actually believe only 4 Duke Players (Clay Buckley, Greg Koubek, Christian Laettner, Brian Davis) have 4 Final Fours, making him t-5th all time for Final Fours next week.

Championship Appearances (2, t-1st) - Karaban is currently tied with Tristen Newton, Hassan Diarra, Andrew Hurley, Samson Johnson, Donovan Clingan, Apostolos Roumoglou, Andre Johnson, Shabazz Napier, Niels Giffey, and Tyler Olander. A win next week gives him sole possession of first, and ties him for most championship appearances in all of college basketball.
