Karaban Love Fest Thread

My favorite Husky! Great program guy, Hurley's blue blankie, coach on the floor, calms down the team, helps people get to the right spots on the floor, just wants to win. Its easier to find a great scorer or great rebounder than it is to find a guy like Alex.

His troubles after missing the FTs at Nova last year -- and overcoming them -- have toughened and matured Alex. Today, he was a warrior, putting the team on his back. He refused to leave Gampel on a losing note. It was an inspiring performance, not to be soon forgotten.

Here's a fun fact. At UConn, Dan Hurley has won ZERO NCAA tournament games when he didn't have Alex Karaban in the starting lineup.

Amazing game by AK - played the whole game pretty much hit everything he shot -straight warrior. We re gonna miss him next year. Surprised fox didn’t show more of the senior day festivities. Quick clips here and there. Weak job by Fox.

There are too many to list, but the first one that came to mind was Texas at MSG in the 23-24 season. He was doing it all - normal threes, deep threes, rebounding, defending, passing, and single handedly buried them with 3 clutch shots deep in the shot clock

Bring us home AK! He was a huge part of 2 championship runs. Let's make it 3.

Nevermind, I have a new favorite one.

The best way to play his last game at Gample 23-3-2-2-2 . He willed them to a win and (most likely) locked up a #1 seed . That one game summed up his career perfectly.

I think college basketball is so far superior to the NBA and watching a 4 year kid like Alex Karaban is exhibit A of why I feel that way.

The 4 year guy is becoming more and more rare and when you look at what he’s accomplished and HOW he’s done it? We owe him for life for what he gave to us.

I will miss Alex so much. A lot has been said about his contributions and he deserves a lot of credit. One angle I think about a lot though is how much of a bridge he has been for the program. Think about the players he practiced with his redshirt season - they included:

  • RJ Cole
  • Tyrese Martin
  • Tyler Polley
  • Isaiah Whaley

(Of course, Andre, Hawk, Adama and Samson were on that 21-22 team too)

These guys were the ones who began the process of bringing us back and he saw it though for them. I’m sure he learned a ton that first half season and I have no doubt it was a big reason for his success.
