They were terrified of the hammer for Hawkins and snuffed it out, but Karaban did a good job making himself open, Newton did a great job of reading the overplay on Hawkins and finding AK, and AK is clutch.

Raised his hand to let newt know.

There were probably three options on that play and AK was probably #4.

Yeah, he has to get stronger and that will come with time. But when was the last time he was abused on defense? 1st PC? I honestly can't remember. He's a true baller, always building his game.

That was a hammer action designed to get Hawkins open in the corner. When Miami messed up their switch & both guys followed Hawk, Karaban read it and spaced up to the slot.

And at the same time Newton made an NBA-caliber read and pass. Just a tremendous floor game from that kid last night.

That is what is overlooked- Karaban's moving to the open spot. The beauty of the play isn't just his shot but his movement just prior to taking it.
