Karaban game time decision against Butler

She was great in the Dick Van Dyke show and in her own show, but I don't see how she could possibly beat a college basketball team, even in her prime.
She plays phenomenal zone defense though

He did need a reset and didn't get one. He's played god awful tonight.

until the end of game - he played 40 minutes and about 5 well i m o some of his turnovers and d lapses at key points was real head scratcher. like foul on 3 pt shot as well.

Not sure I can agree he was "god awful".

He had a grand total of 2 turnovers. And 6 assists. 3/1 ratio is pretty good, isn't it? Granted the turnover at about midcourt after a timeout late in the game was really bad.

I might have been a little rough on him now that I read his stat sheet. I take issue with my own description now :)

At the game though there were some glaring mistakes that if Alex played for J. Calhoun, he would have gotten an earful and some time on the bench.

Alex came around at the end but for someone who seems to play the whole game, he’s got to limit those headscratching plays (fouling a 3 point shooter who made shot, turning ball over at the end of the game in which Butler could have won the game, and missing “bunny shots” one after the other.)

But I should have not used “god awful” to describe his play tonight but rather to describe about half a dozen plays he made that were frankly, baffling!

I don't think Calhoun is taking Alex and benching him for that type of mistake. Calhoun would yell at him but he knows that this team isn't deep enough for someone replace the scoring and tangibles that Alex does give.

I don’t think he would “bench him’ whole game but I was around when Calhoun was there.

That careless handling of the ball at the top of the key that led to turnover and put the game out of our hands - we had to count on Butler missing a shot to win this game…

They could have heard Calhoun yelling at Alex in Storrs!

:)

The foul on the made 3 wasn’t good. But maybe look at the root cause of the foul. AK fouled Solo’s man on that 3 because Solo shows zero interest in fighting through screens, even weak ones like the one set for that particular shot.

Did Alex continuously miss short on a handful of floaters? Yes. On a different night, his point total from last night’s game would have come close to 30. But he was our best all-around player against Butler.

What game were you watching? Alex was our best player tonight.
that was not the type of game where you want to be touting best player. I don't think anyone played well and we're lucky to win.
