I've become such a fan of Kara, as a commentator and as a player. I was watching the wrap-ups again just now and was struck at how lovely looking she has become. I used to think of her as very plain. What a transformation. I tried to cut and paste some early photos into this thread, but couldn't make it work; anyway they are easy to find.

More important than looks- I think she is the most knowledgable commentator out there and I thoroughly enjoy listening to what she has to say. Just pure basketball knowledge and I always feel like I've learned something afterwards.
I don't know if she is the most knowledgeable commentator, but I do know she is the most articulate and that she brings insight and truth without hyperbole. She is not trying to be a 'personality', she is trying to be honest - and that is indeed rare.

Kara is awesome. Back when she played at TN she was the only one who scared me. When we would have a single-digit lead with only a few minutes left I would feel pretty confident except worried about her - she had that fire and determination and ability to get it done.

She was the real LadyVol deal, so I've been amazed how impartial she is as a commentator, doesn't come off as a TN homer or UCONN hater at all. Very impressed.

Like Ms Catchings said at the last Olympics about rivalry feelings, "You grow up". I too vote for Kara as a superb non-biased
commentator.

Kara has developed into a wonderful observer of the game. Not once all season did she say something that caused me to think, 'Well that was pretty lame Kara.'

I loved the exchange with Kara and Rebecca involving Rocky Top. It was hilarious.

She is a big advocate for what's right in the women's game, doesn't try to sugarcoat the bad, and is willing to tell you about the good. Her statement last year after the championship game was prophetic, " I have seen the future, she wears #30 for UConn, her name is Breanna Stewart." She also said in the wrap up Achonwa would have made a difference, but not enough for Notre Dame to win.

Maybe coaching in her future. Geno's replacement - how about that?

She would make a good coach. I'm not sure she wants too get into coaching. I think it's a more stressful job.

Couldn't agree more. Said almost the same thing to my wife late in the NCAA championship series. Far too many of the announcers repeat the same thing over and over. Kara Lawson presents an interesting and original point of view.

Commentators like Kara and Rebecca have short 2 - 3 minutes of well rehearsed segments to prepare for.
Announcers have a 2 hour job full of uncertain game situations they have to be ready for.
Completely different jobs.
