Kansas Post Game Thread

It's tough to not have the guy you just want with the ball. Tarris and Mullins are that. Stew, Ross aren't. AK and Solo, not exactly. We could use one more this season. (homping for Demary, but not thus far).

Reibe may be the next one.
Malachi was steady in the second half leading the comeback

Won at Kansas, probably the hardest place to win in the country, with a D+ game from the point guard position.

We did it with solid defense, rebounding, if you clutch your shots, and a couple of very nice second half adjustments.

Mullins was awesome and lived up to the hype i was hearing. That kid is going to score a lot of points in the NBA. The rest of this season he will be a problem for opposing teams. Good luck stopping him when he gets comfortable. Hes the big story but shout out to Reibe who was awesome tonight. Absolutely big time! Stayed out of foul trouble, scored, blocked shots and rebounded against a pretty good frontcourt. I have no worries the rest of the season about the 5 spot once Reed gets healthy. With the emergence of REibe added to the already big expectations of Mullins who appears primed to do something special as a freshmen this team will be terrifying by March. The caveat will be Demery. If he doesnt clean up the poor decisions it could derail this season since Malachi while being a really nice back up is too shot first a guy to lead this team where it can potentially go.
Boatright, Taliek, Kemba, El-Amin and Shabazz would like to have a talk to you!

Why do we make these kind of statements, enjoy the damn win.

Yes, enjoy the win. Hurley leaned heavily on Norman Dale in Hoosiers with playing the players he needed to play, not the players whose posters you have on your bed room walls.

This game showed what UConn 2025-2026 looks like at its best. Get some rest, wake up, and savor the moment.

Mullins and Reibe are stars. Silas will be fine. Need JStew to contribute in other ways when he shot isn’t falling. Incredible halftime coaching adjustments by Hurley and Co

I think Stew was contributing well in other ways, but when we desperately needed offense, Mullins brought it. After that, I think Stew’s second half minutes went the way of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” while we were turning the tides. He’s still got a lot to offer this team even with a healthy Mullins and we’re still gonna need him to make it where we all want to see this team go.

I think 99.999999% of the board was uber excited for Mullins. This isn’t news you were breaking.
Yeah seriously lol. Although I was excited for him, I was still worried that like almost every freshman, he might have some growing pains. But this performance in his 2nd game at The Phog? Wow.

Props to KU for their switching defense. Bigger props to the UConn staff and players for figuring out how to beat it. And the biggest props for UConn's D, arguably their best defense half so far this season.
Phenomenal early test to have Self throw his best shot at us this early on.

Mullins defense is also really good. He's often referred to as a shooter because he's so good at it but he's a complete basketball player. Knows how to navigate screens, shoots on the move, floaters, knows how to use the glass. Quick with everything he does both physically and mentally, a competitor. Enjoy him for this season before he's in the NBA.

Team showed mental toughness not folding early. Rebounding solid all game. Not just shooting 3s was great to see. Multiple drives and passes for inside shots.

if Silas can become the player we expected, then watch out.

really hoping he can gain confidence during our conference schedule. that talent is there so just seems mental at this point.

Silas is having a learning curve similar to Newton in his first year. Still trying to figure out the distributor vs. scorer actions. His mindset is right and his heart is right. Decision making is still iffy at times, but it's not out of selfishness or lack of awareness. Put me in the "not worried" about Demary Jr. camp.
