Penn State won tonight, as Maggie Lucas shot 1-6 from the arc. For the season, she is at 64-134 (.478). Kaleena is at 67-131 (.511).

I like the games when KML gets 5. I'd like to see her get 10. :)

Depending on how many games Uconn plays and whether KML continues her current pace, she could set the Uconn record for most threes in a season.

I guess KML is first, and Lucas was 2nd ?? Well now Lucas has slipped to 3rd behind Liston of Duke (48.4%)... though she is only 45 out of 93 for the year. I dont see PSU play alot.... has Lucas expanded her game ??

You can look at the PSU-Purdue game streaming on ESPN3...they had Maggie hound the point guard all the way down the court, and she showed a variety of moves to get shots off including one sequence where she gave a head and shoulder fake from the 3-point line and drove to the elbow where she did a pump fake to get a nice open midrange shot against a good Purdue defense.

Plus, Kaleena missed a game earlier this season. She could have at least three or four more!

Forget stats, even if Kaleena ddn't have the better ones she s the better shooter, bigger, stronger, better range, she plays a tougher schedule and will through the Ncaas.

Maggie has expanded her game, but not as much as Kaleena. Ice knows her game best.

Recall that Maggie is a junior--one of several very good guards in that class. Kaleena is a barely 19-year-old sophomore.

From what I have seen of Liston, she is an impressive shooter too, though more limited overall.

Maggie is capable of hitting her jumper from anywhere inside or outside of the arc, high or low. She has expanded her ability to attack the lane but frequently does so with an abandon that like Bria can sometimes end with her in the air without any options before coming down. This is where her TOs come from. Bria is more skilled at finishing. Maggie's defensive game results in steals and poke aways and is stronger than last year and much stronger than her freshman year. She is a Energizer Bunny type hustler and never stops moving and is very capable of playing big minutes without fatigue. You absolutely cannot lose track of her or you will pay. You, also, must cover her farther out than you think seems reasonable.

According to ESPN, she was 3 - 11 from three and 7 -17 overall.

Through games on 2/24:

Tricia Liston of Duke: 59-117 for .504

KML of UConn: 80-160 for .500

Maggie Lucas of Penn State: 76-159 for .478

All are outstanding.

Some other players:

Stef Dolson: 7-14 for .500

Future WNBA player Kelly Faris is shooting treys at .416

Chloe Wells of Duke is at .531 on far fewer attempts

Haley Peters of Duke is at .488.

Duke, which is often scoring challenged, shoots treys better than UConn.

I don't need no steenkin' stats to tell me that Kaleena is one of the five best players in wcbb and the best shooter of them all. Period.

Maggie went 2-11, so she slipped. Meanwhile, Kaleena shot 5-9 on Tuesday to raise her percentage just over .500.

With 91, KML is 16 away from Wendy Davis's season record of 107. About 3-4 more games? She is also slightly ahead of Sue Bird's .497 pace for a season.

I think she will set the single season record this year and then have Taurasi's career three point record by the end of 2014.

Yeah, I think she breaks the career record in just about 3 seasons. I like her taking 20 shots, including 10-12 threes. At the rate of 4-6 made per game, they add up fast. I think Tina's #2 spot on the career scoring list is in jeopardy.

Factoring in Sunday's games:

KML did not play today.

Maggie went a stellar 8-13 and is now 86-183 for .470.

Tricia went 1-4 and is 60-126 for .476.

Elena went 1-5 and is 42-88 for .477.

I'd love to see Kaleena have a career game tomorrow.

Some other KML factoids:
  • She's the first Husky to make 90+ 3s in two seasons
  • She's 6 points shy of 500 points for the season. She will be 1 of only 3 Huskies to reach 500 points during each of her 1st two seasons. The other two: Maya and Sveta.

If she stays healthy, she will absolutely be the #2 all-time scorer for Uconn. I firmly believe that by her senior year, the college game will just be too simplistic for her. She will basically be able to score at will. Maybe not with the athletic ease of Maya, but with absolutely lethal effectiveness.
