Well so much for other posts and best years starters. We have a new one now. It’s KAASS. Or, should I say chaos. KK Arnold; Azzi Fudd; Ashlynn Shade; Sarah Strong and Serah Williams. That’s 80 ppg for the starting unit. Then add bench points. Should be fun to watch. If Heckel joins in then we have the KAASSH Register. Yes UConn will have a drawer full of loot.

Definitely in for the KAASSH register. Need an acronym for the bench strength as well.

Geno, CD & Company will be able to coach hockey after this year with balanced line changes. Can hardly wait to see the Tennessee game with both sides doing line changes, for fresh legs on full court pressure.

Go Huskies!!!

Yup, that's the starting 5, you nailed it. Fortunately the second unit will as good as most other teams in the Big East: Jana, Blanca, Caroline, Allie and Morgan. Leaves Ayanna, Ice and the freshman for when someone inevitably goes down with an injury. If they can replicate last years relentless pressure defense, I'm not too worried about the offense.

With the players that Geno has, I believe Uconn wil set more records for total points scored per season, In excess of 90+ points per game this season, multiple players in double figures and Go Undefeated in the BE and Undefeated for the full season. SO OBVIOUSLY Uconn wins NO.13 National Championship! GO HUSKIES!!!!!!

Hopefully, the H commits today. We would have an unlimited options on the floor. One thing is for sure and that is the guards will get a ton of minutes.

Are you insinuating that they do substitution like the Lady Vols ? I sure hope not.

I wasn’t a fan of the Tennessee substitutions. You can’t get a proper flow. They did well but that set is for hockey.
What surprised me was that when the new Tennessee line came in it didn't seem to create defensive confusion by UConn, i.e. who to guard who. No one seemed to be left unguarded. That wasn't the problem with that game.

I'm with you, I'm not a fan of a complete line change. However, if you work the "B" team relentlessly in practice they will have a flow. It just won't be the same flow as the "A" team. Also, how do you spread the talent? Pack the "A" team or spread it evenly between the "A" and "B" teams? I don't follow Tennessee, so I don't know how they did that.

I thought that Heckel would have said yes by now. Guess that this may not happen. But never say never. Still hoping.
ND Board (not that they know anything either) has all but conceded that Heckel will be announcing for Uconn this week, so the beat goes on

A player from Penn State just removed herself from the portal and is returning to the Lions. I read somewhere that there was a question about Q Samuels may want to come back since she hasn't signed with another school. I haven't heard anything else about her, so I really don't know anything for sure. The question is, if she asks Geno to come back what does he do? There is only one spot left, which we all know is reserved for the possible addition of Kayleigh Heckel. Sticky situation, and I am really baffled why she hasn't signed on with another school as yet, but these are kids and I don't know if they know what the right decisions are.

I wouldn't be surprised if Heckel has said yes to UConn privately, but is not telling the world until she gets the finals over with.

Yup. If it were me (lol) I’d have settled it privately just to clear my head for the exams. Leaving it dangling for real doesn’t seem like the easy way.

We'll know for sure about Heckel in a couple weeks one way or the other when the team returns for summer session.

Pretty sure the announcement will be 3 days after Kayleigh gets back home to NY, and may happen at UConn just before her stuff arrives to move into UConn for the summer sessions. She will sign, or has signed contingent upon eligibility, which she probably already has based on Dual Credit & AP scores from her H.S. days.

Honors students from the last H.S. at which I taught would have between 16 and 28 college semester credits when they graduated, so they would be at or near Sophomore level after the first semester or an aggressive set of summer sessions, that way they could concentrate on core courses and foundational courses at 12 -14 credits as they adjusted to college pace and NCAA Div I training and practice schedules + road trips (5-7 days away from the classroom).

I expect the announcement on Thursday of next week 5/22/2025 at this point.

Go Huskies!!!

I think that 80 pts is optimistic except against severe mismatches. I’ll estimate 70-75 .

70-75 seems a little low to me. But I see what you mean. It’s easy to overestimate these things.

Here’s my defense of 80. The team averaged 82 points this season. ~20 of those points were scored by Paige. My guess is that between Serah and Blanca Geno will be able to find those 20 points.

Of course Paige was a bucket-getter, which means she would fill up the score sheet with however many points the team needed. On some nights it was 14, others it was 40. Maybe Azzi and Sarah can do that next season, maybe not. Only time will tell. If they can’t, we’ll probably have more close games and the average may deep below 75. If they can, it may rise considerably higher than 80.

After today, I find it hard to believe that UConn wouldn't be the runaway preseason #1. If I've been blinded to some glaring weakness on this team, please let me know what it is.

And just to anticipate a bizarre way of thinking about this distinction, it has nothing to do with having won the previous NC. This is entirely about Geno having put together the best roster.

And K9's isn't the missing piece of some puzzle. But her willingness to join a very deep roster shows how great players think. They relish competition for playing time. If they fear this, Geno doesn't want them. This is also why UConn is the clear pre-season #1

The only thing bothering me about Kayleigh Heckel joining UConn was how KK and Ashlynn and Morgan and Allie were going to want a Sophomore portal transfer signing on , but after reading Kayleigh's Birthday greeting to KK a couple of days ago I know those players will welcome her with open arms so let's start rolling to #13!

UCONN will be very good next year, no real weakness, lots of strengths. The only fly in the ointment is that South Carolina is also loaded. They added the best scorer in country, signed a big post in the portal, recruited a couple of very good players and have a sophmore coming back who might be great. UCONN will have their hands full with dawn Staley next season. That said, we have Geno and his staff.

Just for the Tennessee game, to show that Geno's team can do the substitution thing better than UT.

Go Huskies!!!
Hmmm, that's an entertaining thought. Just for the Tennessee game if Geno sees 5 vols at the scorer's table waiting to get in he should send 5 huskies to the table. A picture of 10 kids at the table would make a great post.

The flip side is that such a stunt would be a little disrespectful of the game.
